Looks to be a pretty good deal....

it is a strange looking knife, i know as i have one and get many comments on it...

That is a very unusual knife. There was a thread awhile back on it. At that price I couldn't resist. :)

DANG!

We apologize for the inconvenience, this item is currently unavailable.

They gettin' more?

no gary they are not getting more as they did not sell fast enught for them... oh by the way: I got the last one they had... today and it was evdently lest then 60 some mintes before you called. It was 'downstairs' in the store in the display cabinnet.... so that makes 2 i will have now ...
Stats= buck only made 200 of the blades with the holes as a custom order for serra and is not likely to make that blade style again... Joe looked for one for his self to have it put on a 186/560/110 ti handled knife! and could not get one. sorry...

that's okay, you snooze you lose. Not sure how I missed that post/link originally. Will have to keep my eyes open more next time.

I ordered online yesterday and got an order shipped e-mail from them today so I guess I got lucky.

I've been seeing those for some time in the Sierra Trading Post catalogs, but never ordered one. The handles are sweet, but I really dislike the "holey" blades. As far as practical, the holes probably shave a little weight, but won't they make the blade much weaker?

I have no doubt that the blade would be weaker, but I think that it would handle most ordinary cutting tasks OK. I certainly wouldn't want to pry with it.

FWIW, Lan-Cay produced a few lightweight M9 bayonet prototypes for the USMC with the "holey" blades. I read somewhere that the holes did not materially weaken the blade, according to Lan-Cay factory tests. The holes were intended to lighten the bayonet, since one of the Marines objections to the M9 was the excessive weight of the knife.

Also I must have sneaked in on one of the last of these Buck Kniuves at Siera, I got a shipping confirmed e-mail as well. Ordered mine yesterday on line. :)

i got lucky in that i got the item not in stock when i tryed to order on line and the live person i talked to also said that they were sold out at first so in the midle of my pleading to check again and i happened to ask if they had a display model left and she checked inventory for the store downstairs and sure enught :) they had one in the desplay...so she took th aorder and called to tell them that it was sold and to take it out of the desplay...

i had emailed then as they went on sale again jest a few days after i paided for the one .... and they gave me a gift certifict for part of the diffrence to use toward another knife which i managed to do jest that and got the 2 like i orginaly wanted...

i have a 560 and have have held the holey blade up to the Ti handle and looked at it with out my glasses and .... WoW it looks great!!! Joe H. had orgenly wanted to do jest that with a blade change ...
me i am wanting one of the elk with demaskas balde also and :D .... humm...brain freeze - ouch that hurts...
