Loose butt cap

I was getting ready to let a friend "play" around with my 15" AK the other day when I noticed that the butt cap is slightly loose. I can't remember knocking it on anything and a visual inspection failed to turn up any evidence of an impact. Any suggestions as to how to best refasten it?

Epoxy it. I would poke some under the cap if possible and then just smear some around in a ring.

Have noticed same on svl. of mine, suspect handles stabilizing to low humidity Nevada air from high humidity shop #1.

This is one of the reasons I have been trying to get the flat plate buttcap for years. I finally got the first four Sirupatis in from shop 2 with flat plate buttcaps. Not thick as I want but a step in the right direction.

The buttcap will not compromise your handle but is a pain and should not be loose. Take Cliff's advice and use some epoxy to secure it.

If I live long enough I will get this problem solved one way or the other. Until then, apologies.

A syringe will help apply the epoxy underneath the butt cap. Working the epoxy underneath the butt cap with a needle work.

Ghostsix mentioned that laweforcemet views syringes dimly. So, I use the big ones from farm supply stores for applying epoxy. The needle is bigger so it is better for epoxy application and it is probably not drug periphoenial.

Also, smear it around the outside like Cliff suggest. If your are carefull it really enhances to looks of the knife.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Oh, I still let my friend "play" with my AK- I think he's figuring how to scrounge up the dough for one as I type. :-)
