Hi,
I have a Benchmade 1101-2 which I really really like, but mine has the the rattling cap problem and it's driving me me nuts. Before you go suggesting that I get the o-ring in the cap replaced, that's not the problem. Even after a trip to Benchmade, they haven't been able to fix it - it came back as loose as a goose.
I know what the problem is - the cap (or body) has been machined slightly too short so there is a gap between the body and cap when closed. I was able to temporarily fix the problem by adding a thin layer of plasti-dip on the edge of the cap, but that didn't last as it came off after a day of use.
I was thinking of adding a thin layer of JB Weld around the edge of the cap, then sand it down until it's a tight fit. Has anyone ran into this problem before and were you able to do a DYI mod to fix it? Thought I would ask before attempting to fix it myself
Like I said - I really like this pen, but the sloppy tolerances is bumming me out.
