About 100 years ago (well maybe a little less:p) I did a thread on taking a knife apart, using a "second" I got from GEC. My goal was to learn how to rehandle a knife.
This knife had some glitzy gold fleck acrylic, which I may have called the "pelt of a custom '64 Mustang" or some other nonsense!

Anyhow I never got around to it, and arthritis gets in the way when I try to do fussy, small work, so I shelved the project. In the interim, our NZ friend Fes harvested some deer in his usual manner, stocking his larder in the process, and sent me some pieces of Antler, when I expressed interest in their nice "popcorn texture". At least that's how I remember it.
The Stag sat on a shelf for a decade or two (maybe a little less:p) until our other friend Esnyx offered his customizing services not that long ago (not even a month ago actually:p)!
I asked him if he'd like to swap a knife or two for his work, and he said sure!
So I sent off the ex-Mustang (actually an ex-muskrat I think),
and a Diamond Jack, and some bits and pieces, including Fes's Stag.
The results, which include a supercharged trade penny from Phillll!

You are looking at Gen-you-wine NZ Stag, harvested by Fester Fromzed (sp?), on a DJ, and third cut and dyed Stag on what is now, inevitably, a Mustang Jack!!
The penny from Phillll is a '44, my favorite year, backed by a bit left over from the DJ, nicely assembled, as are the knives, by Esnyx!
All in all, quite a haul! Thanks Evan, and Phillll!

Charlie,
The Stag has a nice warm color, IT TURNED OUT NICE.
The stag Keepsake is pretty COOL.
The Mustang Jack is PRETTY NEAT.
Nice work by Esnyx, and wonderful contribution by Fester.
THANKS FOR SHARING.

Nice knives! That dyed purple stag looks a heck of a lot like the purpleheart I made into SAK scales a little while ago.

I can't decide which I like best: the ex-muskrat, the Diamond Jack, or the trade penny! All are superb! Congratulations.

Thanks for looking, and the nice words, Tim, Phil, Robb and Jennifer!!

Really liking the stag diamond jack trade penny and that dyed third cut stag is pretty awesome looking.

Evan does great work.

I think the really nice thing about this is that it all came together by good people on this forum.
The knives turned out great.

That's some nice stuff there!

Thanks for the nice words everyone!

Charlie, I'm glad you like how they came out! It was an honor to work with you, I hope we work on something again in the future!

Here are some pics I took of the Diamond in the Sarasota twilight:

Nicely done Esnyx and congratulations Waynorth. I really like them both, but, the old faded red covers are so unique!;)

Exquisite stag on the 48 Charlie! And I just noticed that both clip blades on your two single blade knives are stamped for two-blade knives.

Makes them even more unique.

Nothing like tidying up loose ends, I remember talking to Fes over the phone when he was about to send you the Stag - great to see the result.

I love that Stag and the shield - what a cool idea!!
Great to see Charlie, and Esynx - Great work Sir

Yep, they both started out as 2-blade knives. I am starting to prefer the slim carry of single blade/spring knives.

I suspect Evan may make something out of the spare parts, hmmmmmm. . . . . .

BTW, does anyone know if GEC has made a 1-blade #66 pattern??

Thanks everyone for looking, enjoying, and complementing!!
