I have a Gerber bowie and the handle loosens up on me when I chop with it. I was wondering how I could fix it.Also wondering what type of steel its made out of,the web site does'nt say. Thanks for any replys.

is it the black rubber..or the rarer model with wood?
that particular kife has a full length tang under the handle..
so if you have the black rubber(or zytel) type, injection molded..the channel inside
the grip has turned loose its heatbond to the tang when it was
injection molded..so it flops around...the same for the wood excecpt the handle has swelled and the tang channel has work enlarged itself....however
id repair it differently according to the handle material...
if its wood..you can assusme the tang is centered thru the handle
and have it pinned..that should fix it.( on the outside chance you
can actually get the handle off..drill the pin holes properly and have the pins ready.. then pull the handle off and fill it with devcon epoxy and stuff it backon and pin it..clean up xcess well
and let harden for a week in warm place..maby on top of the tv or
near heater vent..just so it stays warm to cure the expoxy....
if its rubber...and you can get it off..epoxy it and stuffit back
on..let sit a week like the other one...if you cant get it off...hmmm
###personally###,
id have a knifesmith just pull the old handle and replace it with
nice stag one..end of prob...better looking knife...safer knife..
you dont want that sucker to take off for parts unknown one day if
the blade comes loose from the handle while your swinging it around..
very bad ju-ju when that happens..murphy says their will be a new
BMW or porsche just 8 feet away and in the line of fire when that happens...ouch.... DARKMAN
