The pivot screw on my Large Sebenza keeps coming loose after you open it about 20 times or so. Do you all recommend a bit of LocTite to keep it in place?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Well I don't own a sebenza yet, but I have many knife with similar or same problem, I would recommend using loctite, it won't hurt the knife, but fix all the screws coming loose problem!

Hope that helps

The Sebenza 21 pivot screw should be pretty snug to the scale when you HAND tighten it. Are you tightening it down all the way, or leaving it looser to allow the blade to deploy faster? If you are leaving it even a little loose it will work its way the remainder eventually. I have not had any of mine come lose and I do not use loctite.

CRK specifically warns against the use of locking compounds on the 21.

I use the hell out of my small 21, in and out my pocket easily 30+ times a day, it works in grease, oil, water, coolant, salt water, gasoline, acetone, kitty litter, diatomaceous earth, you name it.... it gets washed out with a spray of carburetor cleaner typically, and Ive yet to have the pivot loosen.

Im sure if you contacted CRK theyd supply you with the torque spec for the pivot bolt so you could torque it if you have the tools. Otherwise just going tight with the supplied allen key should be all you need. tight to me is starting to just show a bit of flex in the allen key.

If none of that works Id make sure its assembled properly, and if it is...send it to CRK to have it sorted.

If you dont want to do any of that, and REALLY want to use loctite, I would NOT apply it to the threads, just place a small drop on the bottom of the bolts flange where it contacts the frame.Put it together and let it cure before use.

Thanks all for your replies. I hand tightened and will see if that works for now.

Kindest regards,

Pete

Best of luck. If hand tightening doesn't prove enough, I'd use purple or blue loctite on the threads without any worries. If your Sebenza has the older style pins that don't accept an allen wrench on one side, I'd stick with the purple. Only a small dab is necessary. As stated earlier, be sure to allow enough time to cure before using the knife.
