Hi all, I have a brand new pp+ wakisashi with a ridiculously loose spacer on it. Its the one between the tsuba and fuchi. I could probably send it back for servicing, but I'd rather just fix it myself. I'm thinking if I pull the peg out, and disassemble/reassemble the whole thing, it might fix the problem. Failing that, perhaps someone knowledgable in these sorts of things could give me a few tips on how to remedy this annoying rattling.

if disassembling it doesnt fix it use a piece of leather, it was common for leather seppa (the spacers) to be used if a tsuka came loose.

Thanks for the tip, it remained loose when I reassembled it. So, I obtained a small piece of thin leather, and cut it to fit. I put the sword back together with the leather between the tsuba and rear seppa, so that it is better hidden. The whole sword is very solid now, I'm glad I paid the extra for the plus version, as a fixed handle would have been a nightmare.

:) glad I could help you out, really the only other way to have fixed it is to have new seppa made and on a PPK its not cost effective. On alot of gunto I've seen you can make out boot leather cut and put as seppa on very late war swords, so it was a inexpensive way to keep the tsuba in place.
