Loose Thumb-Stud(s) Problem...

Hi, I have just noticed that on one of my (new) Carter-designed Ford knives the thumb-stud rotates quite easily, just turns and turns like a busted screw-thread. It seems to be constructed of a single pin through the blade then embellished with 'end-caps' on either side.

I can't pull the caps off to fix the problem; none of my other studded blades rotate like this one. On the up-side, in theory it should be better - no friction on the thumb while the blade arcs away while opening...

You don't seem sure that it is a problem.
If it is, and United Cutlery won't change it, try a drop of super glue.

...Hi Greg, SuperGlue what, exactly? I can't shift the 'caps'. Are they screwed on or glued on or what?

Thanks,
Frank.

Double thumb studs usually aren't threaded into the blade -- it's a bolt and a nut, essentially, going through a plain unthreaded hole in the blade. Grab onto one of the studs and turn the other one to tighten it up. Use padded pliers to avoid marring -- pad with leather or cardboard or whatever's handy.
