Anyone have any practical hints? The screw head seems to be hardened, and loc-tited, and is chewing up all kinds of coins and screwdriver blades. Hair dryer? WD-40? Nuclear fission explosion?

I used a quarter for mine. Started with a nickel, but that just got chewed up.

There was a thread about this earlier but I can't remember the title. Look back through the last three or four weeks. I think that someone advised putting a coin in a vise or something like that. Good luck.

Place a quarter in a pair of vice-grips. Place the knife on a firm surface, from the clip side of the knife loosen the clip screw with the quarter. Do not try to keep the clip screw on the opposite side of the knife from turning. When you have the screw loose on the clip side then you will need to hold the opposite side with a quarter. The clip screw is a very snug fit so you do not need to hold it while loosening. Wen it is loose enough then use a quarter on both sides to remove the screw.

Thanks, guys! With gritty resolve, I went through a few coins again. Using my Leatherman Wave to get a firm grip, and biting down on my belt to avoid cracking any teeth, a 1996 quarter finally did it. And I think I prefer the fit in the neck sheath without the clip. A lot easier to remove, and the knife feels better in the hand.

I wonder why they crowned the slots in the screw, rather than making them flat-bottomed? Seems like the latter would be more efficient, and it's easier to find hardened screwdrivers than it is to find hardened coins.
