Gentlemen, I am looking for contact info for a maker written up in one of the knife magazines a couple of years ago who made a large machete-like knife called "the lopper".
I have racked my brain but cannot recall his name. Name, telephone, address, or website info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The maker you're looking for is John Richter. The article was in the December '98 Blade, called "The Real SEAL". John is still SEALing, and made Master Chief (E-9) just last month. He doesn't do a whole lot of loppers any more, more into folders.

Here's a picture of the lopper he made for me, his biggest ever at that time (10"), out of 5160 and Nickel, with a lignum vitae handle, custom contoured and lined with fileworked nickel silver.

John's e-mail is jcrichter@erols.com. Don't expect replies right away. John is about as much fun to work with as you can get, and I highly recommend him.
