In the Fellowship of the Ring, Aragon uses the Athelas plant to help stop the poisoning of Frodo.
When he finds the plant and goes to cut some off, he uses a small knife that I have not otherwise seen in the other movies or any other scene.
It only appears for a split second

Does anyone know what it is?

It happens so fast that I struggled to get a picture. Here is the best I can find

I’ve seen the movie countless times and can annoy my wife by quoting the entire thing but I haven’t noticed this small detail. That being said I think the weapons were designed by Weta workshop.

Movie makers deliberately obscure marketable objects unless they can milk some revenue from them. Probably a Hollywood prop.

Thats something that only seems to appear in the movies. Its an Elven blade given to him by Celeborn at Lothlorien. There are replicas out there if you google it.

Thats a shame, as much as I love his elven blade, the one in that scene is smaller and more appropriate size to what I enjoy. Still though, hard not to love that one you posted^

If you are using the VLC Player (and who wouldn't, the best there is and free too) to watch the clip, you can use the "e" key to go frame by frame (from a paused start, obviously) and take a screenshot. There are free download tools for YT vids to save to disk and use VLC from there.

Minute 41.

You are welcome.

It's so quick that there's literally no frame where it's not blurry. It does look like the one that Bill Siegel posted a pic of.

Looks like a wharncliffe in this shot, but the repro looks like the bevel is what'd be the swedge of the wharncliffe.

I know that it's wildly different in a lot of ways, but the blade shape makes me think of the rmj unmei. Just get one of those, slap a elven rune on it, and hop over to new zealand to stab something. I don't picture hollywood using a wharncliffe blade in these movies - not sure it fits the aesthetics. But I've been known to be wrong about a great many things in my life.
