I'd ask the folks at CRK - but they have a weekend to enjoy. So does anybody know if you can order a non-blue back spacer for a small Sebenza from CRK? Is this the same part as the back spacer on a small classic?

CRK makes a "silver" back spacer. They may well sell them separately for you to install. They also make a "silver" thumb stud but you would need to send your Sebenza back to CRK to get a new thumb stud installed.

You can also get rid of the blue by rubbing the blue back spacer with Simichrome polish.
But, it may not get a bright looking as the "silver" ones from CRK.

Anyone think of a reason why I couldn't just bead blast the side ( not the top or bottom) of the spacer and get a nice dull finish without ruining the knife in terms of function?

I bead blasted the spacer and handle on my small regular with no problems.

I realize this is a mattter of purely personal opinion, but I very much like the blue thumbstud and backspacer.

Yeah, you can strip the anodized blue off in a heart beat with a bead blaster.

I don't why some people like the blue...I do!!!

One reason not to like the blue is that it rubs off the thumbstud, at least partly, relatively quickly.

Ok, I don't understand these complaints are about the CR knives: lock-up, color of the thumb studs, backspacer, etc... It's simple if you don't like the blue thumb stud/backspacer then buy a different model!! If not, buy another knife!!

The silver thumb studs and backspacers are real nice. I still can't decide which ones I like better. I also like the gold ones, they go nicely with the maple scales.

The blue stud and backspacer are almost a sebenza moniker; that's why the alias has them too.
I like 'em. It's subtle enough to add a touch of sophistication without undermining the Sebenza's workhorse profile and build.

missin_hobo, that's a good point. It is an identifiable characteristic of the standard Sebenza.
