Losing 2 mods ...

Losing one parent is a misfortune; but losing both parents is plain carelessness.

- Oscar Wilde

I've greatly appreciated the role which each of our mods has played since Bill and Rusty passed. I think they've shown wisdom, and restraint, and good humour - and the cantina has remained strong and healthy under their guidance.

I'm troubled, though, by losing two mods in the course of a week. The cantina will be fine. Munk is doing an exemplary job, and the daily cast of characters here hardly needs nudging ... but it is a substantial loss to us.

Nothing stays the same - that was brought home about a year ago. I was surprised at that time to have 3 share the moderator role, and it may be that the Cantina really doesn't need more than 1. On my other home on the net, the moderator is almost a figment of our imaginations he is so laissez-faire, and we get on OK. But I will be truly sorry if other things intervene, and we begin to lose sight of Yvsa and/or Howard after this week.

I dont know what to think of this either :(

I hope that any problems will be solved and that everything is alright,

I must admit that on one level I was a bit chagrinned about the concept of us having four moderators. Here we are the nicest group of people to call ourselves a forum and we need four mods. But all in it worked out pretty well and I'm sure that we'll survive and thrive just as well as we have in the past.

taxes? people get freaked out, need lots of money, sell their collections and cause a fuss, there's more daylight and people decide to get out and about. job, life, the universe?

i've been freaking out myself in other ways. it's the season i think. things will settle. let's hang in there.

I think it's the promise of Spring. A new beginning, a new birth of life that comes once a year and promises fresh opportunities.

When I was in college, you could tell when Spring came from the "break-ups" of all but married couples.

"April is the cruelest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers."

I guess April just may have come a little early to the forum this year, huh?

Don't wander off now, Munk. We may have to station watchers outside your Montana haunts to prevent your running off. NO FROLICING! Not that you frolic...

What good is life if I can't frolic?

Darn. Take a number and buy a slurpee, citizen; you're in the US of A now.

No one wants to see a fifty year old man frolic. No one.

...except...do you think a 49 year old woman?

munk

Possibly.

It might, I think, be best to frolic in that secret location, as Bill suggests. We can't have you just abducted or something.

Don't listen to me, munk. I just miss mountains. Pure jealosy here.

boy, it sounds like people are leaving forever!

just a mod turnover. happens all the time.

I feel like we should immediately start trolling and fighting so Munk feels he is needed and stays:thumbup: ;)

Seriously I feel like the most important aspect of being a moderator is to kind of keep people talking and kinda get people to share stuff that they might not think anybody would want to hear, but that's really educational to the rest of us. Munk is great at this and Howard and Yvsa will continue to contribute so I'm sure it will be all good:thumbup: :D
