Losing another Maker

I had just seen this gentleman's ad in American Handgunner's current issue for the first time. Went to his site today and learned he is being forced to go out of business due to major health concerns. He still has some blades available to sell. They look like excellent blades for the price...

Take a look and see if there is anything there you can't live without.

Actually, they aren't good blades for the price.

They are AMAZING blades for the price.

But I don't know about stock, because I think Mr. Greco made this announcement early last year. His situation has changed since then... I think he can make a small number of knives.

John is a good friend of mine. I talked with him for awhile today. He is alive and kicking.
Long story short. He was in bad shape last year. Everytime I talked with him I figured it would be the last. The wonders of modern medicine.
His blades are definitely worth the money. Not many left. Grab them while you can.

still liquidating?

I talked to him about getting some of his tools early last year....guess it takes a while for a great maker like John to wind down....

That's a shame, If he realy must give up knifemaking. I think it would drive me nuts.

Do you suppose it is due to health related issues(grinding dust, fine detail work?)

He sure makes nice knives. I'm sad I never got one. I am sure he has a very good reason for it.

I bought one of his Greco/Scagal knives last year right before he went to the Blade show. I talked to him on the phone for at least an hour. He had nothing but encouraging words for me as a knifemaker. I believe he is a diabetic and has problems with his hands. From what I've heard he is still making knives on a small scale but that's only hear say. I love the knife I got from him, it sure is a beautiful piece.

I've been scarfing up Grecos as fast as money would allow I've talked to Mr.Greco a few times I like to take his scales off and make grippyer ones I'e sent him pics he complimented me I asked him to copy his UKK he said have at it He's an Awsome Guy. I save his e-mails like talking to a legend. And his knives are allot of knife for the money.

John is back making knives and is even going to bring back the earlier tactical line of knives he made before he became ill. He is doing great now and loving every minute he is in the shop. Check him out at http://www.grecoknives.com although he hasn't posted all the knives just yet so keep checking with him or just give him a call.

i would mind to get a couple of those folders in progress how much are they it didnt say and how do i order them?

He hasn't brought them back just yet so hang tight. I will let everyone know when the earlier knives he made are back.

I saw John at Blade, but he was busy with someone else, and I didn't get to talk with him.
Missed a chance to talk to a lot of people there, as it was really overwhelming.
