Losing Customs!

Today, I finally realized the greatest downside of using customs as EDC. If you lose one, you're really out of some money. This morning I misplaced my De Villiers Exectac Spearpoint, a knife that is not real expensive for custom, but still 10X the cost of my Delica. I eventually found it under my bed, but not before I sweated some bullets. What is the most expensive knife any one out ther has ever lost?

My biggest single $ loss .... about $20. (Schrade LB5 Lockback) :D
But, I lost two of them. :( Sometimes it pays to be average! I'd be tempted to pay someone to kick my butt if I lost a big dollar knife, or one with sentimental value. Losing those 2 Schrades was bad enough!

I'm an obsessive and controling maniac when it comes to my personal effects. I don't lose anything period.

I don't trust myself, I never carry anything I can't afford to replace. The most expensive knife I've lost was a finger-grooved Buck 110:(.

Lost my FIRST EVER BENCHMADE two summers ago. Small Crawford Leapord Cub part serr folder (612s?) Consequently the fit/finish on this knfe was flawless. And as a gents folder it was perfect.

I still, in my paranoid mind think that someone lifted it. My ex-girfriend had somewhat of a dirtbag of an older brother. He would play nice with me up front, but I don't think he liked me very much. Anyway one night I was staying over there (yes I slept on the couch, she lives with her P's) and the next morning while undressing at my house I noticed I dint have the BM. Called her that afternoon and she couldn't find it. I know for a fact it slipped from my pocket and was in the couch, probably right on top. The pocket clip was bent loose a little bit and I should have taken it off to re-bend but got lazy. That was my favorite BM of all time. The way those things flicked open was HOT. Not a big $$$ loss, but significant enough to have me checking my knife bout 50 times daily with a tap.

In closing I would like to add that I do not have a sister. If I did, I would PROBABLY not take kindly to any of her BF's either. How easy is it to like someone when you know behind closed doors he is... gettin' some from your sister? No wait, you little sister. This would drive me up the wall too. But I wouldn't take his high-end production folder.

 Dammit all! You are gonna make me stop carrying my CQC-7.... :p

I was paranoid about losing a Dale Reif neck nife last year, finally got over "losing my custom" paranoia... but I fear its going to come back...

Well thank you all very much! ;)

(And please, no one offer to store my knife for me so I dont lose it! :p)

Most expensive knife I ever lost? Misplaced my Commander for about a week... had left it in my shop. Most expensive one I lost lost, a $9 Shrade when I was like 8.

I "lost" a busse basic 5 ($130?) that I had put a satin finish on. I use "lost" loosely because I have a suspicion it was stolen while on a camping trip.

I thought I lost a CRKT Viele small Wasp. I think I paid somewhere areound $85+shipping, and it was the FIRST time I ever carried it. Bummed me out for several hours before I found it...oh, I lost my Benchmade Mini-Reflex for an hour or so -- was wearing it in the yard, raking leaves noticed it was gone after I'd bagged up about 20 huge lawn bags. :-(

I had picked up a couple bags with one hand and the clip transferred form me to the outside of the bag. Pick-pocket style!

Lucked out and found it still clipped to one of the first bags I checked.

I tend to not carry my Boguszewski Cobra during strenuous activities anymore. Partly because of the 3.75" blade length, but also partly for fear of losing it.

Never had that fear with my TnT for some reason. Similar price, so I can't explain that one.

I "lost" a package that contained a Cold Steel Gunsite folder awhile back to a thief who stole it out of my mailbox while I was at work!..:(..

My first Benchmade I lost when I had another person hold it temporarily. They had to replace it. And when I was younger I lost a nice Sog lockback at a football game. Did it fall in the bleachers?. Pobre sito.

i have been lucky, no losses, but a bud lost his M2HSS BM AFCK, while taking a pit stop on the side of the road in north texas - he had only had it a week .....

he was fooling w/it, and we were drinking, and we think he had it in his lap and got out of the truck to answer the call, and didnt hear it fall when he got out - he almost cried

I lost an origional WWII bayonet probably 6 years ago...still looking for it...it's somewhere in the yard or house...

I lost a WH Kestral in the snow while playing with my dog. Took some doing, but I did find it. Lost a Spydie Walker Lightweight over the side of a boat a few years ago. I'm pretty aware of where customs are at all times though...

I've "lost" two enduras:

The first one was "lost" for about 2 days. I was quite miffed that I'd lost it so I went and bought a new one (besides, I felt "naked"). The next day I was running from my car to a friend's house (it was raining!) when I heard a clatter on the ground so I stopped to pick up my knife and re-clip it to my pocket, but there was already a knife there! Turns out the "lost" endura was "lost" inside my over-full jacket pocket (I checked in there, I swear!)

The second one was "lost" (this was the replacement for the first one, lost above) one evening as I got out of my car. I got up after sharpening a machete and noticed it missing. So I started looking around the house, then grabbed a flashlight to look by the car (again, it was raining and nasty so vis. was poor). Couldn't find it so I cursed and swore at myself a bit. Then I went to go to Aikido, sat in my car, and felt something on my back. Turns out the endura had transferred itself from my pocket to some loose threads on the back of my jacket and had been hanging there all night (and I'd even gone out to grab a snack in that jacket and not noticed it).

Hey! My jacket is a dirty rotten knife thief!

I lost one of my favorites - Endura... That gave me a good reason to upgrade to Military, but I still miss my SS Endura for some reason...

Some how my Pirela Blade Trans Metal has become " LOST " between my home and a New York State P.D., because when Panzer075 received the sealed box from me all that was in it was my biz card a shoulder patch I was trading him and the empty custom case but no knife. The first one to get ripped off(LOST )turns out to also be my most expensive. Oh well gives me a little off duty time to flash the tin:mad:     'cause I'm asking questions. One thing for some dirtbag to use a POS to cut his sh** but using my custom that just wrong:mad:   :

FedEx "lost" my Starfire spiked axe for a week once. It said on the website that it was delivered, and the delivery guy said it was, and everyone said it was. Called the cops to report a missing package (the freaking sheriff asked me all sorts of "pertinent" questions, like where I went to school - as if.....) Turns out that my idiot neighbor across the cul-de-sac received the package by mistake, but either didn't look at it or was too stupid to take it 100 yards to me. I haven't lost any actual knives yet, but then I don't have very many either. Hey, that's it - I'll get more knives so I have a better chance of losing one! :)
