I just took out some knives NIB that I had in storage and carry them for a few days.

All of a sudden the great knife ghost came and took them away. I don`t mind losing a knife but damn just after getting it my pocket.

IT DOESN`T MAKE A DIFFERENCE what kind of knife you lost. It just freaking piss you off that it`s gone..

Oh yeah the lost of money too will hurt you.

my best bud has lost 2 w/in a week of purchase, a BM 800 M2HSS and a MT LCC!! how?? ya got me, just seems to leave the things laying around after use.............

he went back to a spydie native, cheaper if ya lose it lol.

and in 3 months he has kept up w/it - go figure...........

The only time I seem to lose a knife is when I give it to someone to use.
I have lost a couple of knives this way years ago. Never again!

One of the many reasons I don't let anyone use my knife when they ask.

List of lost knives:

BM Mini-Reflex MIA 5 years Found---3years ago in barn uner som boxes

Boye Prophet MIA 3 months---Found under car seat

Spyderco/Viele MIA 3 years---Still MIA

Blackie Collins Thumbolt MIA 3 years---Found attached to canoe

Berreta Avenger MIA 2 weeks---Found in dirty work pants

Rocky Moser CA Legal Auto, MIA once a month----found everywhere

Leatherman Supertool MIA 2 years--Still MIA

Never give up the search, cause once you do you'll never find it.:(

I have been lucky regarding knife losses.

I did have a CQC7 go missing for 6 months, turned out it was in the tank bag of my r1100rt

But, I have a rule, I DON'T LOAN ANYONE A KNIFE.:) It has certainly pissed off some folks occasionally but the way I look at it, if you need a knife CARRY ONE. I don’t carry a beater to loan out.

The only knife that I can think of that I "lost" was a Cold Steel Gunsite folder that some POS stold out of/near my mailbox while I was at work a few years ago. That was a pisser!

I lost my Camillus EDC for a while. I left it in the pocket of a pair of pants, went through the washer and dryer. The next time I put on the pants, guess what I found squeky clean?:)

After reading a few of these posts, I don't feel so wierd about being overly anal-retentive about my knives.
"can I see your knife quick?"
"what you need cut? where?"
"can I just see it quick?"
"I don't let anyone touch my knives, no offense. what you need cut"
Happens exactly like that at least twice a week @ work.
Have never lost a knife for more than about 2 minutes, so I guess being kind of a jerk once and a while about my stuff isn't that bad.
My room and my main car are both an utter mess, but if you move one of my knives even an inch on the display table...I'll notice it within seconds like a hawk :D
I can remember the minute or two that I lost the S. Delica and the sheer terror I went through until I found it. I can only image how it feels to have one of your babies still MIA.

Yeah, I must admit to washing more than one.

Sure as hell make a racket thumping and banging round and round in the dryer. :D :D

I wish i could say that i lent it to somebody and lost it.
it was because i wasn`t paying attention!!

One thing i do know that once you know you have missed placed it(better term to use), you go freaking crazy! it is like STOP!!! HEY something is not right then comes the long search party.

another thing i do hate is when somebody says it is only a knife!no they didn`t say that.

got to go guys ,, i have some cleaning up to do... if you know what i mean...i will find them.

Critize.. your right they are MIA!

The only thing I seem to lose it the auto knives...
I've lost three Benchmade AFO's
One in the Delaware river a few clicks north of the washington crossing bridge, One on my sports club bench, and one that was taken from my car after it was broken into. After that, I figured I wasn't meant to have an AFO...

It seems like every time I lose a knife it is because my girlfriend picks my pants off the floor and washes them without checking the pockets first. Then they come back a little cleaner after they are washed.

I have lost a :
crkt point guard large
kershaw vapor today :( hope to find it !
large buck lite
small sharade
I lost the crkt at work and still find myself looking for it .well pretty much all the knives I lose at work. I guess some got picked up by people.

Had an old Syderco Endura. For years I carried it. Then I got a 4" Voyager. Within 3 days I lost the Endura. Then I gave the Voyager away. Carried an old Tomcat for years till the kraton wore out. I still have it, will repair it one day with special handles.

admittedly, i've only been keeping knives for 1 year, but i haven't lost a single one yet :D *crosses fingers*
i refuse to lend out my knife for more than one reason
1. if you need one that often, go get one, stop coveting mine :)
2. if you hurt yourself on my knife, does that go on your karma or mine?
3. if you damage/lose it, what're you gonna do?
4. if you hurt someone with it, am i considered an accomplice? (most likely not, but.... why take the chance...)
5. i don't lend out symbols of my manhood :D :D :p

hehe, how about the ones you / i have strategically placed :D like the tackle box, hunting gear bag, glove box. You swear up and down its gone/ stolen / someone used it and didnt put in back. Just to find it and grin silently :D
