Losing the coating...

I few months ago I finally ordered and received my Howling Rat. The people who owned my house before I did screwed some plastic flower pots into the window sills. Most of the screws were so rusted that I couldn't unscrew them, so I used the Rat to cut the plastic around the screw free so I could dremel off the screw. The flower box had a small piece of wood between it and the bricks of the window sill, so I wasn't stabbing brick.
After cutting off three of these things, I noticed that the black coating on my Rat was coming off. I was expecting a scratch or two, but it looks like it started to flake off. Is this normal from a one time use? The blade itself is fine, but I was wondering if I should avoid hard use with the coating? Right now it's just a 1/8 - 1/4 in flake on the top and smaller ones on one side, but I'm worried about bigger flakes coming off. Thanks.

the coating on the tip will some times flake, nothing to worry about, you will probably have to wear it off the rest of the knife.
just remember, you have a great knife, It's no good unless you use it

pretty normal, especially on the spine at the tip. Don't worry about it, just use it...

sorry to hijack but what would be a good way to remove the coating. thanks
