Hi guys,
The other day I was in a restaurant and pulled my phone out of my jean pockets while i was sitting down and dislodged my benchmade mini afck. When I realized that it was missing I went back to the restaurant and the knife was nowhere to be found. So now I'm looking for something to replace it and was hoping you guys could help. I really liked the g10 handles since they didn't get scratched up and held up really well over the years. I was looking that the benchmade 710's and have heard lots of good things but I'm worried that it might be too big. I am a college student so I'm looking to spend around $100-$150. So what would you guys recommend?
Thanks,
John

The 710 is a good one. Also look at the 940, Mini Rukus, Dejavoo and Mini Dejavoo. Those are just some of the many good choices. You might want to go to the shop in your area and handle some of them to see which one you like best. The Mini Dejavoo and 940 are closer to the size of the Mini AFCK you had than the others. The 710 is a lot bigger if size is a factor. GOOD LUCK! Kevin:thumbup:  The 940 does not have G10 handles. Also look at the HK 14210 and the HK14205. I have had a 14210 and it is REAL NICE!

You must use the force for good. Spyderco Caly 3 is the path to true happiness; VG-10, G-10 and superior ergonomics shall entice you into joining the way of the Crab.

Then take the extra 50$ and buy an Endura 4 for the win.

:p

I happen to be a college student as well. So, with that in mind, I (more or less) have conceptions of the problems a fellow knife nut is going to have while going to college. ;) Yes, the 710 is a big knife- but it is a d@mn good knife. I had mine stolen coming back from college (airport baggage handlers can blow- never mind), but I was presented with almost exactly the same conundrum as you. I ended up re-buying it, and it is never more than 3 feet from me (it isn't waterproof, and I do shower :(). It is worth quietly slipping into your shoe when dealing with girls, though- it's rather bulky, and not too friendly when hands wander onto that piece of steel :p So keep that in mind, and try to handle one somewhere to see if you'll like it. I usually like Spydercos, but the 710 is just one amazing knife...
