In a computer error sure to cause me the kind of reflux talked about on this forum......I have lost all my saved emails.

I had about 4 years worth....around 1 Gigabyte of saved information, seperated in 22 folders and including sent email messages. :mad:


I'm beyond despair and grief....


If anybody sent me an email recently (last month or two) with a request, please send it again.

I can remember a few (mostly those with orders) but am worried I'll miss somebody.

Consider this my public apology if that ends up being you. :(
 
Dan, there are companies that specialize in data recovery. Expensive, but maybe worth it in your case. What happened?

Joe - it was a pure idiot move. Was setting up user accounts here on my WinXP computer (so my wife's family could come over and have their own accounts) and I figured I'd just set one up for me too. I started up Outlook Express and pointed the store folder to the place where I keep all my email stored. Instead of picking up the old emails/folders/etc. it overwrites it with new folders. Gone forever. Sad day indeed....:(

Not worth the $$ to try to recover it (at least, not yet....)

Good to start with a clean slate (I keep telling myself). :(
 
I'm pretty sure they can still be recovered, if you don't do more to the disk. Your call, though. (obviously)
 
Yup...99% recovery possible. *IF*, as Aardvark said, you stop touching it now...
 
Dan, That's what System Restore is for methinks. Oh wait, I think I read that it didn't change things done to files and folders.:confused: :(
Might be worth a try though. Just restore it to the day before you did it. You might be able to hit the "undo" button as well but you've no doubt already done that.:(

I tried everything I could - I'm no newbie to PCs....I can usually undelete all sorts of things, but this was overwritten with no trace of the old files. :(
