Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I've been on Blade Forums.

I seemed to have lost my trusty yellow Buck 303 yesterday. It was a gift from a fellow forum member so I am totally bummed out.
I am attached to that knife so I am going to have to order a replacement.

I was thinking to order a Buck 309 along with it. One of my favorite knives is the Case 32087 CV. I'm hoping that I will like the Buck 309 as much.
I was considering the Buck 305 as well but I think it may be too small.

As much as I like my Case Peanut, I prefer the 32087 and I think the Buck 309 is similar in size?

What do you guys think about the Buck 309?

Thanks
KG

Looks like the 309 is 3/8" shorter than the Case. Might be a big difference in this size range.

Yeah I saw that it is 3/8" shorter but Hoping that it would be OK. It is 1/8" bigger than the Peanut. I might just order it and find out if I like it.

Hi KG,
glad to see you on the porch again :)
It might be a very obvious question but...why not another 303?
Take care and stay around ;)

Glad your are buying another 303. It's a great knife.

I have both a Case Peanut and a Buck 309, plus a Buck 305

The Peanut and the 309 are about the same width. The 309 is a tad longer.
The Clip on the 309 has very little curve to it; it's almost a Wharncliffe, which I find to be very handy. The 309 clip blade is a bit odd looking, but I find it handier than the clip on a Peanut.

Buck 309? Recommended.

Hello Fausto!
It's glad to be back on the porch again.

Now that I'm back I realize how much I missed it.

I am definitely getting another 303. That was a no brainer for me. I must replace my 303!
Since I was ordering the 303 I was going to add on another purchase and was considering the 309.

KG,
I had misread your post :o
In the "small penknives" cathegory, there are many nice knives out there...but I'm sure the 309 wouldn't disappoint you :)

Hello Frank,

Thanks for the input. Especially regarding the width of the 309 vs the peanut. Also the info regarding the clip blade.

I think I'll end up ordering 303, 309, and a Yeller CV Case Peanut (just because LOL)
I have a peanut but it's SS and I gotta add a CV Peanut to my collection.

I was surprised to find out that Buck no longer produces the 300 series in yellow....so sad. They stopped in 2014 it seems?
But I'll be able to try out the classic black saw cut covers.

Thanks all for the input!

No worries.

I am finally starting to find out what my preferences are.
Smallish knife with 2-3 blades.
Non-intimidating looks, as I am often around families (I have 2 small kids)

I am excited to try out a new knife again. (it's been around 3 years since I bought a knife!! amazing)
I have been carrying/using my knives, just not buying
