Hi all, new here so apologies if this is the wrong section and for any lack of knowledge.
I've had an Enzo PK70 (carbon handle, flat grind) UK legal (non locking, under 3" blade) pocket knife for about a year and really got on well with it BUT I've lost it.

They are no longer made and I'm looking for a replacement; the Enzo was a lovely knife, robust, slimline but well made however it had a couple of annoying issues - one was a sharp point when folded on the back of the blade - this used to shred my trouser pockets. And two, after initially being razor sharp and holding an edge for ages, I just couldn't get it back to that level of sharpness using my Sharpmaker; any other knife I sharpen is fine. It was S30V steel which I know is hard but I obviously adjusted my sharpening time to take this into consideration.

So I'm looking for a replacement - good steel, similar to S30V or the same, small enough in the pocket not to intrude, a good slipjoint (the Enzo had two and they were great), probably non wooden as I'm an HM Coastguard and use the knife by the sea a fair bit, modern looking. And while I don't mind spending a bit, preferably not too expensive. Also not too ornate - the slimline "gentleman's knife" doesn't appeal.
Spyderco does a nice S30V for a good price but not sure on that design, Benchmade does the 319 that looks good but it's a lot of money. Any others?
Thanks in advance!

They are still around. I love mine- Scandi grind in D2 with long bolster and G10 scales. Try Googling "Scandinavian knife makers supply". Hope you find one. Might also try Brisa.

I'll have a little look around but the one mentioned above is very tempting.
BTW I have a Materials Engineering degree (Swansea 1997) so vaguely clued up on metals. Poor steel makes me angry...!

The Wasp is a terrific knife for the money. I have the S90V model. It has a unique 4 stop action that was a little surprising at first, but is a feature I have come to really like. Good customer service as well. I like to remove the pocket clip from most knives and drop them in my pocket. I asked via email to purchase the small metal piece that goes in the slot occupied by the clip (there is one on the side opposite the pocket clip, I needed an extra since I wanted to remove the clip). They sent it out to me the same day free of charge.

Sounds good - TBH I never use a clip either. Did you buy direct? I notice Moonraker knives list them but not sure if they carry stock.

I bought mine from ManlyUSA. You may want to go to the ManlyUSA site and send a message from the Contact Us page regarding where best to purchase in the UK. I have noticed that they frequently run out of certain models, but they'll be restocked in short order.

Great - thanks.
I can buy direct but it's £12 more than the shop I found - just waiting to hear back and see if they have stock.

Thanks again!

The Manly Wasp is good, mine is 14c28n which I prefer.
Also the titanium Vagnino Zipslip is good.
I also like my Spyderco Urban in Aeb-l.

Well it just arrived; razor sharp and I really like it.
Slightly broader blade than the Enzo but a similar overall shape. The multiple “clicks” to open and close will take some getting used to but it’s a nice solid action.
Love the handle too; a bit more comfy than the PK70 with more grip.
The back of the blade (when folded)still has a bit of a pocket catching angle on it but less so.
It’s not quite as neat as the Enzo but it was also half the price.
That S90V blade is wickedly sharp; I’ll have to refine my sharpening technique a little as I struggled to maintain a proper razor edge on the Enzo; I use a Sharpmaker. Any tips?
Thank you so much DB; a fine recommendation!

Very nice! As to sharpening, I have been able to maintain a stupid sharp edge by using a fine diamond hone and very light pressure. I've used mine pretty heavily for about a year now and haven't needed to do more than that. Mostly I have just used a leather strop once or twice a week, edge trailing, to see if I can feel it snag the leather. If it does, a few light strokes on fine diamond has fixed it right up. I was a little apprehensive to sharpen it the first time, so I used a Sharpie to mark the edge and went easy on the pressure. I found that a light touch was all I needed on such a thin blade. I don't think twice about it now.
I was using DMT hones for a while, but have pretty much switched over to some Venev bonded diamond pocket hones which are pretty reasonably priced.

Edited to add: I do most of my sharpening freehand. If I need to fix a badly damaged edge, I have a cheap DMT MagnaGuide (or whatever they call the contraption) that does a satisfactory job for me. I find that I need help maintaining an angle when a lot of material needs to be removed.

Edited to add more: You can break that sharp 90 degree edge on the spine by running a diamond hone or file across it. It doesn't take much to smooth that out. I think I may have done that with mine, but can't recall.

I really like my two Wasps, just watch the tightness of the pivot screw once and awhile. Mine came unscrewed a little when I adjusted the blade tension to my liking, came out a few days later. But I like the size and blade shape to mine, mine are in Sandvik.

I’ll keep an eye on that; thanks!

Well I bent my clip; took it off (with the nice little toolset provided), squeezed it with pliers but can’t quite get it right. So I contacted Manly and they do a very comprehensive spares set for €5 including delivery!!

So that’s on the way now.

A most excellent brand. I am officially a fan.
