Lost items during shipping

I ordered supplies from a very well respected supplier around these parts but had a problem with shipping. I want your suggestions.

The order shipped 3 weeks after I placed the order and when it did come via USPS (my request) only one of the four items was in the box. Apparently the box was torn in transit and about $35 of merchandise is missing.

I believe the packaging was bad as there was no filler material in the oversized box.

I have notified the USPS but if it doesn't turn up, should I expect the shipper to resend it on their dime since they packaged it poorly or should I count it as a loss?

Thanks for any advice.

IMO you did not receive it so the supplier should resend it and they can file a claim with USPO if they sent it insured. It is the suppliers responsibility to get it to you intact.
You need to let the PO and the supplier know of the problem ASAP.

The supplier should send out the missing stuff ASAP!!!! It is their responsibility!

3 weeks before the first order was shipped? That ain't right!

I just recently had the same thing happen. Some of the material sent was back ordered so that added an extra week. When the package arrived the bar and pins of SST and nickel silver were missing and there was a hole in the side of the box. I contacted the supplier and they made a claim with the post office and re shipped free of charge. I would contact who ever you purchased from.

I have told the shipper and PO but the shipper is known not to communicate very well. They have not indicated that they will do anything about the matter.

Who is the shipper?

Compared to the price of materials and shipping, packing materials are very cheap.

EVERY package I receive has a thumb nail mark and hole.
It should be packaged to withstand basic tampering -with internal packaging, bags, tape...

I won't reveal who it is unless they don't reship the materials. I got the box last Tuesday, contacted them immediately, contacted the PO on Thursday, and will give them until Thursday to let me know what they will do.

This is the type of order that really should have been sent in two containers. One for smaller heaver items and one for a large light item. I can't give away what was shipped without giving away the shipper :foot:

I use the old phone books as a filler when I ship something out. I rip the pages out one at a time and wad them up to take space up.
