Perhaps its true that misery loves company. Several months ago I lost a knife that had become my favorite user and constant companion. It was the smaller Burke/Queen Barlow with D2. I'm not often sentimental about objects, but this knife had become very special to me. I'm not even close to being over the loss.

Have any of you ever lost a favorite? What was it? Any unusual circumstances surrounding the loss?

I lost a CRKT M21 in South Africa. When I returned home I realized I didn't really miss it though.
Still, I wouldn't have gotten rid of it on principle alone. I could never bring myself to get rid of a knife

I have two painful losses that come back to haunt me. Lost one out of dress pants: Spyderco Kopa Gold Pearl

Lost another one (left it in the Hotel): Chris Reeves Ironwood Mnandi. >_< Ouch!

I did learn my lessons, though. Never carry a knife in dress pants without a sheath, and don't travel with anything worth over $50.

I lost a 25$ Buck 870X. Misplaced a VG10/FRN Japanese Spyderco Dragonfly.

My brother lost a Kershaw S110V Shallot. He was in a hurry and somehow it worked it's way out of his pocket.

My friend lost a 2003 CRK inlaid Snakewood Sebenza out in the boonies.

I might as well fess up. A little over a month ago I was lucky enough to score a R. Flaherty - lefty to boot. After about one week I lost it. Never even cut anything. I own a few knives more expensive, and a bunch less expensive, but that is the only one I ever lost. No unusual circumstances, just careless. I was in a funk over the loss longer than I had the knife. Part of me will always be mad at myself.

I guess I got over confident because my luck held out so long. So much for luck.

Lost a buck 118 in the woods while hunting years ago. More recently lost a paramilitary 2.:(

I lost a ZT 0350st. Tore my house apart, rumaged through my gear, finally gave up. Found it the next day in my pants ;).
