I do not post often but I just lost my precious Lone Wolf Harsey T2 Ranger which i've been carrying everyday for years. I was hoping someone has a suggestion for a replacement. I would like one quality knife as my everyday carry. I use my pocket knife hard and depend on it for a magnitude of situations and appreciate a fine tool.
I do not need a fixed blade only a folding knife.

What is your price range? do you mind weight? thickness? lock preference? there are too many options to start from the criteria that you have given.

Price isn't very important. I cannot carry a fixed blade in my area so I want the next best thing, a tough folder. Size, weight, thickness isn't very important as long as it gets the job done.

I have a Lone Wolf T2 Harsey. Great knife. Why don't you find another one on the secondary market? O know they aren't currently made.

Other alternatives for a heavy use knife are the Zero Tolerance ZT 03xx series and ZT 0551/0550.

BM 710, or 550

Spydie Para Military

Spydie Manix 2

Lots out there.

Hogue Ex-01? It's been getting a lot of play around here (for good reason) as a high quality, tough folder. It should be similar in size to your T2 Ranger, maybe a little bigger.

ZT 0301 or 0300. The ZT 0200 is a great choice as well. All three are every bit as dependable and heavy duty as the T2.

I know how ya feel I would hate to lose my T3.

Benchmade is now making the D series Harseys. I don't know if they're coming out with the T series, but I'm sure someone here could tell you if they are.

The ZT 300 and 301 look very appealing but I'm worried that I will have a hard time preparing food and sharpening them. Any thoughts on those issues?
Also does the assisted opener wear out over time? Some other knives I was looking at were the lionsteel folder and the Esee folder.
Any more suggestions would be much appreciated.

The assitance system on the ZTs is pretty reliable, and, if it ever breaks, then some new torsion bars are just an e-mail away. the knives are very easy to disassemble and assemble, so putting in the new torsion bars is pretty easy. as far as preparing food with the 0300 series, the blade is abit thick to be a slicer, but i bet it will cut food just fine if necessary. as far as sharpening, I think that if you are willing to spend 250 bucks on a knife, then a spyderco sharpmaker for 50 would be a good investment to keep the 250 dollar knife is top working condition.

If you are willing to spend 400 on a lionsteel, then i think you might be interested in a sebenza. they are very solid, extremely well built knives with tolerances that are beyond belief. they can totally take abuse, or so i have heard, but they may not be up to the standard of the 0300 series, i don't know. they are both out of my price range. I do own the less chunky brother, the 0200. I think the world of it, not to mention the fact i am carrying it right now, so take that for what it is worth.

tldr, ZT 0300 series, ZT 0200  Sebenza?

If price is not a problem then how about one of these? Rick Hinderer XM18, Sebenza, or if you could get lucky an Andrew Demko Custom American Lawman. For regular production, Zt 200, 300 or 550 series, Benchmade 710, or a Spyderco Manix 2. I think any of these would do the trick. Also for the money a Cold Steel Recon 1 or American Lawman with the tri-ad lock would do the trick. Good Luck! Kevin :D

Thank you for the great suggestions, The rick hinderer looks great as well as the adrew demko custom lawman. Anyone know how to get a hold of a adrew demko lawman? Anymore suggestions on knives would be much appreciated.

Andrew Demko can be contacted at demkoknives@yahoo.com
The only problem is I think he has stopped taking orders for now until he gets caught up. You can email him and he will get back with you. Good Luck! Kevin :D
