Makes me sick. I lost an older Avid in Sandvik steel with charcoal scales. You can't find either now. I really liked that knife. The new avids are rosewood scales and 420Hc not Sandvik. I looking at it or the Vantage Pro in s30v. Help me decide.

I carry the exact knife you lost, I would also be upset if lost. Great knife, I occasionally see them on Ebay

wish I could afish. Can't afford both at one time or I'd do it. Drive's me crazy when I lose something, especially that one.

I would go S30V Vantage Pro. I have had both, it is a nice upgrade

i got all mentioned so far including the lost version. i grab my 347 pro s30v and standard 345 420hc versions the most.

point is i find the 345 a great value and works fine for everything id use a vantage for. plus they are so cheap for what ya get american made. its worth owning one just for that alone.

I took the majority vote and got a g10 scaled s30v vantage. I got it at a good price on bid, same a new. It arrived today and I like it. Sharpened it using my DMT sharpening kit. Still wish I could find my Avid. Hate losing stuff and thought the Sandvik steel was a great steel. Don't know why Buck dropped it.

I used to carry an avid and then picked up the pro. I like the pro so much, I bought a backup. They're such great knives!

My wife lost her early 340 Vantage I had purchased for her some time back. She didn't know where she had lost it. I thought it would turn up
somewhere. That was October. I stumbled on to it in her father's front yard the following March. It had laid there in the snow and rain and no
one found it. Until I began preparing the flower beds for planting the next Spring. It looked none the worse for wear and she still has it. DM

It's always a bummer to loose a knife. I prefer the older Vantages over the new ones just because of how they're assembled now, but they are Guaranteed :D the S30v is good stuff
