My dad was playing with my throwing knives and threw 2 into the grass. I found one and it happened to be stuck into the ground, deep. I can't find the other one in this tall (for a lawn) grass. Any ideas on how i can find it?

i've lost nuts and bolts in the grass before when working on a lawnmower. i use one of those long poles with a strong magnet on the end and sweep the grass like a metal detector. or use a metal detector.

Do you have an Android phone? There's some apps on there that let you use it as a metal detector. Worth a shot I suppose...

My first suggestion is don't let your dad mess with your throwing knives any more. As for finding the lost ones, just carefully sweep the entire yard in a grid pattern, say three foot square sections until you cover the whole yard. It will take a long time, but as long as you are very through, you will likely find them this way.

These use the phone's magnetometer, and only work if you're right next to the metal...and even then it doesn't always work well. I can put a Camillus stockman up to it, and it doesn't register a thing. If I put a Spyderco Salt up to it, it goes berserk. Even then, the range is only about an inch or so. Remember that it detects magnetic fields, and not metal.

Get a weedwhacker and cut the grass right down, then rake up the clippings and as you go you may find it. Good luck, it cannot be further than you threw it.

Metal detector, if you have access to one. You'll find it in no time.

Stand where your dad was standing and throw something towards where he threw the knife. Look in the area where the object lands.

Yeah, I figured it was a long shot, but mine works pretty well for finding screws I dropped on the carpet. :P
