Barely a month old, and the little feller is gone. :( Lost somewhere on the snowy highway between Montreal and Quebec. It was storming and cars were pulled over everywhere ... I got out to chip ice off the windshield and headlights, and it must have somehow caught on something and unclipped from my pants pocket. If anyone finds it after the spring thaw, please let me know.

Lesson learned: with knives that are so light as to be nearly weightless, check often that they're with you.

I really liked those Zome scales too. Off to Knifecenter online.

What a coincidence, only knife I've had pop out of my pocket was a Delica, and it's done it on many occasions.

that sucks dude.

i lost my delica for about a half hour. realized it was gone, then retraced my steps through the plant. found it under some equipment, lucky for me. it's kept in my wife's purse now.

was just out playing in the snow with the kid, my bk11 fell out of it's sheath. the kid spotted it right away. luckily before we slid over it...

Hate it when I lose a knife. In an effort to find something positive about it though, I just assume someone else will find it. Maybe that person has never owned a Spyderco and your Delica opens up a whole new world for them.

OK , now I feel I must say right from the beginning that what I'm about to propose is total " Bro Science " it is not backed up with any hard evidence .

I have found that the tighter the trouser pocket the less likely you are to lose your knife .
For example my Wrangler Work jeans are quite tight fitting , you really have to force your hand down into the pocket to retrieve something , not much falls out of them by accident .
I also at times wear looser fitting dress trousers , the pockets on these are looser and baggier , these are the sort of trousers you can walk around with your hands in your pockets , if I tried that with my Wranglers I'd probably get arrested or propositioned .
Anyway what I'm getting at is that the flatter the clipped knife can sit against your body the more secure it is , if it's in a pocket that can bounce and move , chances are the knife will also bounce and move .
If you can grab your clipped in pocket knife and pull the top of it out and away from your body easily by a couple of inches then there are physical forces that can and will act apron that knife and potentially move it from a secured position .
" Keep your friends and enemy's close , but your Delica closer "
I often carry Clipped IWB for this reason and haven't lost or even had a knife come out by itself since discovering this ground breaking " Bro Science " phenomenon .
Hope you find your Delica , or have another one on the way to your door .

Hi Mc5aw,

Sorry for your loss. To which pocket was it clipped?

sal

Sal ... As I am right handed, I always use the traditional right side pocket. In this case however, the Delica was clipped in the narrow vertical right side "thigh" pocket on Carhardt work pants. I find that pocket provides easier access to a knife. As I retraced my movements, I think the Delica worked its way up and out of this pocket as I was seated driving, then broke loose when I exited the car. :(

Thankfully, Spydies are plentiful and I will have a replacement asap.

Sorry to hear that. I think that's not the securest pocket to carry in. My new HAP 40 Delica had a little bit looser than normal clip, so I took it off and carefully bent it a tad, and now it's perfect. Not too tight, not too loose. Maybe that was part of the problem?

I do not clip my Delicas. I drop them in my pocket.

The good thing about all of this drama is that the Delica is not like losing a Techno or something. The Delica is pretty inexpensive.
