Lost my Skeletool CX...want to go bigger...

I lost my beloved Skeletool this week. I must replace it, but I'm seriously considering something with a bit more functionality. I'm strongly leaning toward the MUT, but figured I would ask for a few recommendations before ordering. The hold back on the MUT is the serrated blade, I can't stand a serrated blade on anything. I do carry an additional knife at all times (an ESEE Zancudo) so it's not a total deal breaker.

A little background. I tinker with pretty much everything. Constantly. To the point the guys in my office call me MacGyver. I also shoot...hence the MUT.

Sorry for your loss. One thing I find about the Skeletool is that although it doesn't do as much as other multitools, it truly excels at what it does. Easy access to 4 screwdrivers, well positioned for use. Better blade than I expected. Most comfortable pliers of any multitool I have ever used.

First question is what tools did you need on a regular basis that the Skeletool didn't have?

Realistically, not much. I'm also never far from other tools as well. I keep various wrenches, screwdrivers, files, etc in my desk drawer in my office. I never go shooting without an ammo can full of firearm specific tools.

Then I vote to replace the Skeletal, its a simple and useful tool that is easy to carry.

You also have to give some consideration as to how you like to carry your Multitool of choice .
Pocket - Clipped in pocket - Belt Sheath - Bag or Backpack .
If you work out how much time you spend carrying your Multitool compared to how much time you spend using it , then in my opinion " How you carry " should be a large component of your decision making .

Ken has raised the most important question in my mind.

If the method of carry is belt or in a pack, then IMO the way to go is with a full sized MT with full compliment of tools. I have a Blast and and old Wave and if I had to replace them, would pick the new Wave.

If the method is pocket carry and you absolutely need pliers on your person, the choices are limited. With a Zancudo in my pocket, I would lean towards a Juice.

My solution is to carry a Micra in my off pocket and a full sized MT in my pack. I don't need pliers on my person. For times that I do, I use a clip on sheath so I can throw it on my hip in a second and then toss it back in my pack.

I ordered another Skeletool CX, valid points raised...it is always with me (except when it obviously fell out of my pocket). The Amazon price probably was the deciding factor...it's only $58. Yeah, the standard Skeletool can be had cheaper, but it has a serrated blade.

The Skeletool is one of my favourites , but I don't seem to carry one much anymore .
I still own a few and occasionally they get carried . I agree about the serrated blade , but at times they can actually be handy .

Here's a pic of my latest one .
