Well, I realized today that I've lived in Colorado for most of my life, and 30 minutes from Golden for many years, and have been collecting knives for quite some time, but never looked at Spyderco. To be honest, a lot of their designs just don't appeal. But considering how much love there tends to be for them, I thought I'd give them a chance to hook me. Hopefully that wasn't a mistake, because they're not cheap. So, I took a little drive down to the factory and the outlet store there, and browsed around for my first Spyderco. Ended up with one of the more popular designs--Manix 2, plain edge, in 154CM, G10 scales, but not the black finish that I usually buy. It's an amazingly big knife!

Broke it in opening some boxes already today. Barry at Spyderco was very friendly and helpful, and it was a great experience. Definitely a friendly and knowledgeable company!

What's your favorite Spyderco? Place your bets now on whether I get hooked on Spyderco, or stick with my Benchmades. I also should have some Kershaw knives coming soon, black out and RAM, so I think I've got most of the top production manufacturers represented. Anything I should know about the Manix?

Congratulations! I love my two Manix (have one in CTS-XHP and the other one Orange scales with S30V) and they are one of my fav Spyderco designs.

Check out the Para 2 as well, you wouldn't be disappointed!

Gratz in your first Spyderco! I was just posting in the Spyderco forum about how much I dig my new Digi-Camo Military.

I used to live in Lakewood about 5 miles from the Spyderco factory.....but when I lived there, Spyderco didn't exist.

I just bought a paramilitary 2 ,a couple of days ago and I love it ,I do have military in cf s90v&bg-42 also a manix cf in s90v but these are collectors ,so now I'm USING the para2 and I forgot I had it in my pocket!despite carrying a buck northshore for a while which is extremely light and thin?-I used to carry mostly BM but spydercos gets new (FDA) approval on most of their new drugs by us(FDA) regularly-you will get addicted to spydies, sorry for the no confidence vote

Congrats! Manix2 is a great knife - in fact I have a Stag Arms Manix 2 inbound! My Para2 is never too far from me - great EDC.

I'll jump on the Para 2 bandwagon too.
I absolutely love mine.
And I gotta throw in a word or 2 for my Sage 1.
These 2 knives seem to be at opposite ends of the spectrum for Spyderco.
One is all business, bult for tough jobs, and looks mean.
One is classy, elegant, and easy to pocket.
They both cut like crazy though.
Love that S30V.

you lost your spyderco virginity?

i so didn't need to know that, how and where you carry your knife is your business.:P

/sarcasm....

Congrats! Your pocketbook will soon learn to hate you :)

I think most of us here on these forums are spitting jealous of you for being a 30 minute drive from the Spydie factory, I know I am!

That Manix II is gonna be a great knife for you!

A lot of people will probably now tell you to get a military.

I say look for some sprints of the manix. The FFG blades are fantastic

CONGRATS!!!

i have two kershaw's (leek and skyline) and one benchmade (710)....

I'm going to take home my first Spyderco (para2 or Superleaf) from the gun show this Saturday!!..

i literally can't wait... :)

I second that. I got a Manix 2 FFG with the foliage green G10 scales. Superb traction and the grind is a lot better IMO. The liners are skeletonized to the max. Good job Eric. Also got a Stretch in ZDP-189. I buy so many Spyderco the will have a company jet soon.

Congrats on your first Spydie! I still remember when I told myself I'd never buy anything from Spyderco unless I found a REALLY good deal. (Un)fortunately I did, the CTS-XHP Manix 2 Sprint, and now I'm hooked.

Just wait, you'll have many more of their knives coming your way soon...
