Lost it during snow removal and would like to know.......... whats up with the Busse folder? I am willing to hold out for another 8 months and 10 days before I move on......

I highly recommend going out and getting another folder. We've been waiting years. It may be cold out but it ain't THAT cold out ;)

Wouldn't mind seeing a Busse folder. Not sure what I'd use it for, but hey, another knife never hurts, right? :D

I was a big fan of the Grayman Dua when I owned it. Great price, ZERO play, and essentially a mom and pop shop out of CA. Only downside for the dedicated Busse fan is they only use S30v. I also think that they, like Hinderer, offer a LE/military discount.

I have a backup Delica, but the boss did mention in a past post stating "when we make a folder", or something like that. I just don't want to get a higher end knife if the Busse folder in Elmax steel;) is actually gonna happen. Once I pull the tripper on a replacement, that is going to be it until I lose it in a 10 ft snow bank again. I rather Busse just focus their efforts on fixed blades myself.

Something to make Strider knives look cute! Full Titanium frame lock with Nuclear strong hardware.

Grab a replacement!
While I'm waiting for a Busse Folder, I'm searching for just the right combo on an Olamic Wayfarer... Nothing perfect yet... :D

XM-18 replacement with Busse in mind? Get a ZT 0560 or 0562.

Why you ask?

The 0562 & 0560 are both Hinderer collaborations.
For the price of one Hinderer and close enough quality, for me, to get 2- 0560s and be perfectly content with both of them.

There was a Boney AD released to improve the slicing performance of INFI on small blades so there must be some wiggle room in there on for improvement in that area with INFI and Busse has recently been releasing smaller blades in Elmax (AD/ Hack/ MS/ steak knives) so they must believe it's a good steel because they didn't change their warranty on those releases.

The INFI heat treat has been adjusted in recent years to give the big blades more toughness instead of hardness/ slicing capability. But instead of continuing with a higher INFI heat treatment on smaller blades they just switched steels to Elmax.

So you are essentially getting Busse "blessed" steel (though Elmax isn't INFI for the above reasons) and a Hinderer design.

It's a Win Win situation.

^^^This guy knows what's up! The ZT 0560 is in my pocket every day and it is awesome!!! Sharp as a razor, big and beefy, tough as nails (Elmax blade, titanium frame, and g10 scale), smooth as butter flipper, and extremely ergonomic. I have no doubt it will last multiple lifetimes. GET ONE!!! Doesn't mean I won't be in line for a Busse folder when that is released:D

PS-I will be buying the new ZT 0452CF the day it comes out:D A ZT titanium frame lock flipper with a 4+ inch blade.....sign me up!

I was actually looking at the 0562cf but it's heavier than the 0560 with a shorter blade length so maybe I'll take your suggestion.

Wish I could get a 0560 with the heat treat of a BAD!

I would tend to agree with all of this, but suspect that Jerry does Elmax different and better than other makers. He seems to have a knack for wringing out the best of a given steel through his own HT process. Jerry may have "blessed" Elmax, but only since he does it his way.

Have any of the knife testers/reviewers compared Elmax blades from different makers to see how they compare? To do it right, one would have to reprofile the edges to make the geometry similar.
