Lost, one handle....

I've been having one of those days. Nothing has worked right the first time since I've been out in the shop this morning. Might be because I'm working on two knives at the sametime. I just got done profiling the handles on the belt sander and then hit the edges of one with my router and the other one vanished. If you see it let me know....

You can try this, it works for me.

I go into the house and start yelling at the kids. "How many times have I told you to stay out of my stuff!!!" etc.

When I go back to the shop, I pick up a rag to wipe off the sweat I generated from all that yelling.

Then I see the missing tool that was under it.

I finally spotted it. My shop has a dirt floor so it makes things harder to spot even when you know you dropped something. I didn't see or hear it fall off of what ever it was I set it on so that made it even tuffer to spot. I even picked up part of the shop yesterday but not the area I was in when I lost it. Things like this happen pretty regularly....

About 4 times a year I sweep the shop. It's amazing the things I find in the pile. I sift through it with my fingers before I throw it in the trash.

Actually the dirt is pretty much packed down. Before I built the shop it was just a covered area that my cows would come into to get out of the rain and sun. When I first started doing the cow thing and had more energy than brains. I got a 10 yard load of 2" minus round river rock to put in that area to help solve the mud/crap problem. Since I enclosed it for the shop I could do without the river rock. I wish I had taken the time to level it out before I set things but I wanted to make knives now. It nothing fancy thats for sure but I don't know what I do without it.....

Got the two knives finished last night so I'll be getting some pictures up once there's enough sun to do that....
