As mentioned on the PSK thread on the main page I recently lost ( thanks to my niece and nephew ) my Bryan Breeden PSK knife but while searching for it I came across my old Mark Wohlwend one !

After sharpening it up I took it for a quick field test today....weather was super windy !

I decided to try using some silver birch bark, the fire steel is a Going gear type which I'm not really fond of preferring the LMF type !

Roughly 3 strikes later though and we had a good solid flame !

I then remembered the Nite-ize Doohickey that I'd recently bought and attached to my car keys, I wondered if that would work with the fire steel making the knife all but redundant ?

The Doohickey sucked, it managed to throw out a few pathetic sparks every once in a while but I figured my brain tumor would grow back before I'd get the bark to light so went back to the trusty PSK knife !

You gotta love those PSK knives !

Good to see you're back and speedy recovery.

That looks like a fantastic little PSK knife! Thanks for sharing your pics!

Glad you found a replacement. Looks like it worked well. Nice design on that one.

Pit you & I need to talk Bryan into getting back into his shop he makes a fine knife.
I never did get a PSK from him.

Brian made several for me for survival kits. Very nice O-1 knives and threw great sparks with a ferro rod.

- Pitdog, ya gotta love that Bryan Breeden gear!

I wish he was around, I sure miss him... It seems like we've lost him somewhere?

You do know the spine on that Nite Ize thing is not sharp squared? Lucky you got any sparks. Square and Sharpen the spine and then try. Still nice to have a blade though.

I talked with him on the phone about 2 months ago. He has been working a "real" job. Keeps him out of his shop.
Going to go see him when I can find the time.

That's great to hear. I'd wondered if anything happened to him.... If/when you see him, send along greetings if you don't mind!

Good to see you out and about experimenting. Glad you found one of them, I remember when you got them.
