Lost Order?

They're still working on them. I barely got a billing notice a couple days ago so I know they are still doing them for those who ordered. It's like a two man shop and they're made by hand. I imagine you'll be hearing from them soon. I'm sure you could call or email and they could give you an update or status.

How long ago did you order? Just curious.

LH August, checked in at end of Oct and was told mine would be started the following week.

The good news is there are other talented sheathmakers here, so no big deal

Unfortunately, he was one of the ones in the last batch at no fault of his own, just timing of his order. We know we are very slow but our product is great! We have not taken any money upfront because we could not give a definate delivery date. We appreciate everyones patience and support. Due to the great response and overewhelmingly positive feedback of our products we are investing in ways to increase production and shorten our lead times. I know it is disappointing to want something that doesn't happen quickly enough. We know you have other good options in regards to knife sheaths. We are very proud of the products we have delivered in the first year of our business. Like with anything new we are working out our bumps in the road. We have had many offers to outsource our sewing but we think made in the USA is more important than fast! We hope all of you have a Happy Holiday and New Year.

Regards,

Beth and Charlie

Beth, Good morning. I had emailed Charlie early this fall about getting a sheath made for my Junglas (first ESEE) but I joined this forum right as you were getting buried with a ESEE or Becker special offering you had just ended. Do you know when you will be able to start taking individual orders again? I do not need it tomorrow :), but would like to know what your crystal ball might tell you . . .
Thanks for the responses on my previous emails, & the Junglas sheaths with the pouches looks great.
Merry Christmas,
Be safe.

Please email or call me! I do not want to hijack this Busse sight with our business. Busse has been so nice to us but it is their forum. I just thought it was important to respond to the original post.

Thanks

Beth

Oopps, my bad. Sorry guys, not quite awake yet.
Merry Christmas,
Be safe.

I live in Kalamazoo where Charlie and Beth run Lost Mountain. I called them when I found out they were local and asked to come see the sheaths. Of course they told me to come on in and I was absolutely blown away by the quality that Charlie and Beth put into these sheaths and kits. And they are great people to boot. The sheaths are built by the two of them in their shop in Michigan, so you are not getting some over-priced crap from Indonesia or Pakistan.

For the money you will not find anything that compares and you cannot say that about many things these days. Just think of it as a custom sheath. You always have to wait for those. I look forward to getting my LMIW sheath, whenever that may be.

Beth, it's good to see a maker responding in person.

I remember when your sheaths were first mentioned here, and by pure coincidence I was looking at your website yesterday. When I can afford it (mostly thanks to the dreaded UK customs fees) I will certainly be ordering a few. Your sheaths look like the perfect solution for me! Exactly the sort of thing I would make myself, if I had the talent.

I know you have been waiting a while, but don't give up. These are some awesome sheaths and I don't think you will be disappointed when you get yours. They are worth the wait.

Communication is key.
unsolicited, periodic emails might help to quell any angst
the awaiting customers may have building.

I received my sheaths in the first batch
excellent quality as others have stated.
I am an impatient person as well,
when I order something,I want it yesterday.
I would be going berserk if I hadnt received
something I ordered in AUGUST!

Guyon and RedbeAR15,
I hope you guys get your orders soon,
I know how much you were looking forward to them.
If you need one for that trip, lemme know and I will send you
one of mine till yours come in.
(I have holmes and footlong)

August is way to long to be waiting for something. Maybe they shouldn't take orders if it takes that long to make. Even Busse isn't that slow.

patience is of virtue,

you can tell by the pictures alone that these sheaths are top shelf quality, let alone feeling on of them.

thanks for your comments kzooglock23

+1

I was late to the party, got my order in at the end of the offer, mine is still in work.

That being said, I've waited as long or longer for sheaths from some of our traditional sheath makers in the past, I still remember Busse's "2 weeks"

Yes, it appears that Lost Mtn took big bite, that's often what it takes to really grow a new line, and I wish them success.

You can't rush quality, I'm looking forward to getting mine, and based on the feedback I've read, I have high expectations for my new pants.

Thanks Beth.

High demand, high quality, handmade = expect a wait. I don't have one of these sheaths on order, but I was fortunate enough to be able to order a Milt Sparks VM2 holster recently. I counted myself fortunate that I was able to get through on the phone in time before they filled their order quota for the month, otherwise I would've had to wait until next month to order. They don't even have a waiting list per se, if you don't get in before the orders for that month are filled (usually by the end of the first week) you're SOL. Then the waiting starts. Expect 4-7 months for your holster to ship.

If someone doesn't like the sheath or the wait, they are free to find something they like better.

For the maker, it's all about expectation management. As long as the process is clear and customers know what to expect, those that want the quality, the style, or the function will still order and understand the wait.
