We had to put down our cat of 14 years this morning. About 6 weeks ago, he was exposed to a kitten with a respiratory infection, and when he started having some breathing problems about 3 weeks ago, the vet thought it was the same infection, but after seeming to respond to medications for 2 weeks, he started getting worse, and this morning we took him back and an x-ray showed a massive tumor in his chest, taking up almost 80% of his lung capacity. My vet said that in 25 years he had never seen a tumor in a cat that large, and the cat was still alive and even fairly normal until the last 3 weeks.
Far to large to even try to treat, so we had to let him go.
I was a hardcore cat hater until we got this guy, but he was kinda cool.
He made it just 1 month short of being 14.
