Hi all. I'm not a regular contributor here, but I am a regular reader and really appreciate this community of CRK fans.
I just needed to vent about losing my Small PJ Insingo yesterday. I so bummed. It was my favorite knife I've ever owned, and has taken up most if not all of my pocket time since I got it. I was using it and commenting to my fiance not two days ago, "this is the greatest knife ever created." She just smiled and nodded (I am a lucky guy, she is very accepting and supportive of my hobbies). But there is really nothing special about my knife other than that it was mine. I bought it for myself, and I was really proud of that. The blade size and shape are absolutely perfect to me, and it is the epitome of EDC in my eyes. It's my desert island folder, and what I hoped would be something I would have forever.
At the same time, I realize that owning a Sebenza is just a much a hobby as it is using a tool, and is both a hobby and a tool that that so many people could never afford. I think this has made me grateful in a roundabout way, for all of the things I have that so many others don't.
Just as a PSA, and I feel like such an idiot for this, but I am pretty sure I lost it while trying on clothes at a department store yesterday. At some point it must have slipped out of my pocket during the changing process. I am usually very attentive to my pockets, but I think I will be hyper-vigilant in the future. Check your pockets, people!
FWIW I called all of the stores I visited yesterday and left my name and number in case it gets turned in, but nothing yet. I am also scouring Craigslist, Letgo, and OfferUp in case it pops up there. I am holding out a sliver of hope but I think I may just have to get used to being without a Sebenza for a while.
Thanks for listening. Send Insingo pics.
