What blades do you no longer have that you really miss? How did you part ways?

I have lost many, but there are two in particular that I really miss. Both were Benchmade......a Crawford Leopard in ATS-34 (lost) and a Pardue Auto that was stolen. I lost a handmade Balisong in the woods but was able to go back and found it sticking in the log where I left it about two weeks later. Still have that one. I really liked the Leopard and carried it quite a bit. It was the first knife I had in a "premium" steel. I tore my car apart looking for it, sure it had fallen out in there....she was never found. The Pardue I am pretty sure was ganked.

My JK EDC is currently MIA but I am pretty sure it is around the house somewhere. Same thing has happened to my Fieldmate but she always turns up!

Let's hear those stories of lost blade love!

My Randall #1. 6" stainless blade, nickel guard, #2 style leather commando handle, and my name engraved on the blade. I got it in 1976 for $96, with only a 3 month wait. It was stolen around 1985 from my truck (pried the sliding rear window open, took all my tools too), while it was parked at the marriage counselors office in Orland Park. Orland is not a lucky place for me, my Jeep was stolen last year over there.

My first good knife was a Benchmade automatic, with a little slide lock on the side so it didn't accidentally open in your pocket. Cost around €300, I don't even know what model it was, but I loved that knife. It was the perfect size, and disappeared when I clipped it on the back of my jeans.

I forgot about it and got on a flight with it, they didn't pick it up when I beeped at the metal detectors and I had no idea it was there. Realised when I woke up the next day and put my jeans back on. I wrapped it in cloth then tape and posted it to myself as it wasn't legal in the country I was in, and it never arrived. I was so annoyed with myself I never tried to replace it.

I keep a list of the ones that leave, sad, I know, but I do, miss them all in a way but it's about the only way I can maintain the habbit (or search-it's because more of a habit though i have to admit, or an addiction perhaps.

I don't know, miss, is right for most of them so much as "if i had all the money I wanted I'd have back....some of them I miss though. Can honestly say since finding my red sak farmer a while ago I have now never lost one, kind of strange now I think about it, i lose flashlights all the time though.

The very first one you bought from me. I remember seeing your email address and thinking "I really don`t want to ship to the UK!"

My first knife was a Schrade 125OT. I carried it every day in school but I haven't seen it since.:( I really miss that knife.
My first fixed blades were bought at the same time. A Camillus Jet Pilots Survival knife and a Western B&T. Somewhere in my travels those have disappeared too.

I`ll toss in a few more that had to be sold.

CRK Pheasant Tail
Original Busse Steel Heart, made of ATS-34
Original Busse Lean Mean Street, only 107 made
Custom Busse Steel Heart from the Indy 1500 show
And around 80-90 other Busse knives that were sold to pay bills

(Don`t even get me started on guns I`ve sold!)

I was ice fishing one year, went to grab my knife and it slipped out of my gloves and into the hole it went. Luckily it was a cheapie Gerber so no big pocket loss. But the shitty thing is I could see it at the bottom of the lake (wasnt very deep) so I hooked on a treble hook to try and retrieve it...about an hour later no luck

Yeah, I know, sad to see it go but I was happy to do i, it was my first custom order of any time, I was very excited :D

I keep meaning to change my email address for that same problem, but then I'd have to update all my contacts and everyone would have to switch it out, all seems like to much effort :p

Peter I don't think I could keep a list like that.........it would make me sad :(

you should see the whole list, when I shouldn't buy a new one but really want to it helps out...i don't look at it much :D

A couple come to mind and I was probably less than ten years old the last time I saw either.
One was an Old Timer and I not sure of the model but after some research I believe it was a 125ot. It was a large single blade liner lock that belonged to my dad.
The other one was a fixed blade my pawpaw gave me. I don't know what brand it was but it looked handmade. It had some type of high carbon blade about 4"-5" Long. It had a brass guard and stag or bone handle. It looked like it might have even been homemade but it was nice.

I don't actually recall loosing them but I just don't have any idea what happened to them.

I haven't sold or gotten rid of too many knives.
The Spyderco PM2 that I won in one of Hanna's auction was a great knife.

I'm a pretty new knife nut so not a whole lot to tell. I remember my uncle giving me his Boy Scout knife as a kid. It was a Barlow or camp king. Something of the sort. Gone.
The only recent one was just a cheap Kershaw Needs Work. Had it in my back pocket at work. I had done that so many days in a row apparently a decent size hole had formed and when I reached for it all I felt we're my two fingers wiggling through the hole in my pocket. Dang it.
As far as selling knives goes, thank God I've been in a stable enough place where I haven't had to. I'm kind of a hoarder when it comes to knives. I can't bear to part with any of them, even the cheapies. I see guys on YouTube buy a custom then flip it trade it a week later. I couldn't do that. I would sooner give a knife away to someone who needed it to complete their certain collection than to just sell it.
The one I will for sure never get rid of is a benchmade pardue presidio automatic that my brother was issued in Iraq and brought home for me.

I have, luckily, not lost any knives that I can remember in the last 20 years - but I did lose my Buck 110 and then my Buck 112 when I was in my teens -

It would be nice to know where those went, but if I was guessing, they are laying in the woods next to some motorcycle trail in the midwest and now are just rusty messes.

best

I've had my entire knife collection stolen before, at the time I only had benchmades, The only one I really miss now is the large skirmish I loved that knife so much...

I had a old timer by Schrade. it was like a buck 112. with serail number. It was supose to be really old when I bought it from her father and I had it for around 15 years.I had it brand new in the box that it came in with all of the paper work and paul chen sword named blind fury. brand new in the tube with all of the paper work. a jenifer wolf move in with me. I didnt want to see her homeless (boy was that a screw up) when she move out 2 months later they went missing. now I wonder what happened to them?

The 2 I wish I had back are a Gerber Folding Magnum Hunter lost in the move out here from NC & a Chris Reeve Shadow III I traded away.

I can't remember loosing any in particular but have traded/sold a few I wish I still had. The biggest hit I took was many years ago when someone broke into my house. In addition to a few guns almost all of my knives were stolen. I thought having a fancy box to store my knives in was a good idea. Turns out it was only a convenience for the scum who stole them, he took everything including the box.

Haven't sold any... yet.

The only one I've lost was a Kershaw Vapor. Obviously not a great monetary loss, but it was one of the first ones I bought to satisfy my addiction, and the person I bought it from was the man who introduced me to the gun and knife world. He is no longer with us, which is why I wish I could find it.

I've sold a lot of knives to pay bills. I go through purges every year or so and then buy others. I'm on a folder kick so not many fixed blades bought in the last year.

Fav knife lost to time was my Kamp King folder. I got a knife/axe set as a young kid, around aged 9, that included a fixed blade, the folder, and a small hatchet. I build many debris huts, carved sticks, cut food, just used these tools til they damn near wore out. I still have the little hatchet!
