Lost the pin on my USMC

On my past campout the pin for my Kabar USMC fell out at some point. I was wondering, can I still use the knife, I'm worried that while I'm doing some sort of heavy duty work the blade + tang will slide out. Is this the case? I received it as a gift only 2 weeks ago and it has barely been used, this was it's first trip. Any tips?
