I'm really behind on the times, but I finally caught an episode yesterday. Now I HAVE to watch the show, if only for:

THAT BALD GUY!

First of all, the spyderco clip-it on his front pocket already caught my attention. I thought "Hey, you don't see that on TV everyday."

Then I saw the fixed blade on his right hip.

Then I saw the fixed blade to the back of his right hip.

And he uses all of them!

When I first saw this guy last night I thought, "FINALLY! Someone who understands!"

The best part is that he's pretty much the survival specialist in the show, so he uses his knives for all types of jobs, survival and otherwise.

Anyone else catch this show?

My question is how did he get all those on the plane??????

I get hassled about my flashlights IN MY BAG and on my person!!!!! (I guess a stack of 6 Mag lights may look like a bomb to the X-ray :-) ) much less any Knife or firearm.

Last night was the first time I saw the show, so I have no clue. Interestingly, my wife asked the same thing!

I think he may have had them in his checked-in luggage, which might have washed ashore.

Or maybe it was a privately chartered plane.

heres my guess at the answers to all you questin.
IT'S A TV SHOW. they get what the producers give them and use them as writen in the script.
Don't you think it od that fully equiped camera crews were also deserted
on these islands ?

but I do agree, it's nice to see these knives portrayed for what they can
do and what thet are designed to do.

enjoy. ;)

IIRC, Mr. Locke (played by the wonderful actor Terry O'Quinn) recovered his suitcase full of knives from the cargo wreckage of the plane.

My wife and I are HOOKED on "Lost"...

When is it going to hit DVD? I started watching it but have missed many of the epsisodes so I just stoped.

Right now we are watching 24 on DVD to catch up to season 4

We normally watch Stargate as our regular series but have added stargate atalantis, batllestar coming up, monk and The dead Zone.

Watch: from here on, anytime we knife enthusiasts travel over water, we'll pack an extra suitcase of JUST our knives.

When the wife comes around and says "WTF do you think you're doing!!!????", you turn around and say "HEY! If it's good enough for Mr. Locke, it's good enough for me."

The BEST part of the show is now you don't have to explain your hobby to sheeple: just say "oh, it's just like Mr. Locke on that show." Priceless.

Has anybody else caught the rather obvious historical reference, of naming him John Locke? Ever read about John Locke and Thomas Hobbes, regarding the "State of Nature"? Come one, high school wasn't that long ago, was it? :)

I've been hooked since episode one, I have read some articles with the show creator, J.J. Abrahms (of Alias fame) and all the names on the show have significance, John Locke, serval of the names are taken from the book Watership Down, which is seen on the show being read by the Sawyer character, the mysterious guy that kidnapped the pregnant girl was named "Ethan Frome" which is an anagram for "other man".

As for the "spyderco" on Locke's vest, I am not sure it is, I think it may be a cheap rip-off. Last night the gave a couple of good closeups and it appera to have a small black plastic thumbstud, not a hole????

This show is just to cool!

Ken:

or the prop master or production assistant might've taken the spydie because s/he liked it (and is perhaps using it on the set), blamed the actor, and got the knock-off for the actor.

I've been on movie sets, and all types of things walk off from there: food, costumes, props.

I was just about to ask about that huge fixed blade as well. Is is just some Home Shopping Network Special?

The "French Lady" was carrying a 10-12" black powder coated khukuri style knife as well.

My wife and I are hooked. That and Desperate Housewives, what is the world coming too?

I guess Claire comes back next week. Wonder where she has been?
