Cleaning my tnt 172, lost one of the white plastic washers down the sink, rookie mistake cleaning over sink but did it anyway. I emailed buck directly is there any other place to go to get replacement parts, and how is buck about answering request like mine?

It was over the garbage disposal in the kitchen, I pulled the rubber piece out and the smell liked to knock me down. So that is a no go.

Email sent, and Buck customer service is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks I got two emails, a phone call today and a response here, awesome!!!!!!!!

Great to hear that Buck was all over getting you some help!

Yet another reason I'm a huge fan of the company!

With service like that, I dont understand how/why people would buy other knives......thanks Jeff for living above the expectation.

AGAIN!

Well I am new here just because I have the same problem as the original poster. I have lost a washer for my 291 Rush assist open knife. So I called Buck Knives and was told they don't send out parts due to safety reasons. They don't want me taking my knife apart. Well it's to late for that. So to say the least I am a little disappointed with Buck. I love the knife thought. And I guess I'll have to find a washer on my own. But I thought you guys would be interested in the response from Buck.

Because of the legalities of assisted openers, they have no choice. You cant buy brake mastercylinder rebuild kits in parts stores anymore either because they cant trust people to do it correctly themselves. No offense to you but you know the old "one bad apple" story. This has been discussed before and one forumer did actually get it back together but needed a 2nd set of hands to do it(he had all the parts) Normally they end up recieving it all back in a bag with a request to put it back together. It is in the public interest that they take a harder line on this. If you read this forum enough you will see that they have done many repairs free of charge without being asked to do so in the interest of service to thier customers. Not to mention, their 4-ever warranty which isnt unconditional but by the way they administer it, you would get the impression it is. Buck is doing what it know to be right to protect everyone.

Remember also the Sawby lock issues of the original Bucklocks-if someone gets thier fingers cut up because of a lock failure, it is just not worth the risk.

The warranty conditions are very clearly stated in the literature that comes with the knife.

NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY
Damage caused by misuse or abuse.
Failure to care, clean and maintain your knife.
Damage due to self–repair.
Knife loss due to shipping to and from the Buck Knives factory
Damage due to dismantling or tampering with your Buck knife
Sharpening your Buck knife on a grinder.

Send it in to us, and we will get it back together for you. We never send parts for spring assist knives.

Jeff

I am the guy that took mine apart and put it back together. It isn't an easy job and I would send it in for Buck to fix it. It will come back like new and you won't spend an hour and two people to fix it.

edbeau sounds like you learned your lesson, you may now go to the head of the class. ;) ;) :D :D HL

LOL,Assisted openers are in a class of their own,I wouldn't try to disassemble or re-assemble one ,mainly because i've learned thart lesson already.LOL
