I saw the show on NBC called Lost. its a new reality show where they stranded a group of people in Mongolia. they first had to figure out where they were, use their satalite phones, call in and say where they where. once that was done, the person on the phone gave them a combination to a box lock in thier bag which contained money and passport and papers etc. from this they now have to figure out how to get to Lady Liberty in NY. All done in the middle of the desert.
Have you seen the show? did you see the part where the survival guy was talking to them? what do you think?
well i thought it was cool being a reality show and all. I only wish they had something of more substance and value relating to wilderness and or desert survival situation.

I thought both of the new offerings in the "reality genra" were interesting. Neither is a "survival game" per se. Both are races of a kind. One (Lost) is an "anything goes" with no one getting eliminated unless they eliminate themselves (not likely). "The Amazing Race" is more plotted, with 8 discrete destinations to which the users must race as they work their way around the world. To some extent the means of getting there is determined or partly determined as well, but its still interesting to see how the teams vary in their psychology.

I think Lost is better because its definately more open ended and has more strategic thinking in it. On the other hand, The Amazing Race has more people in it to follow.

I like the shows a whole lot more than the usual mind-numbing sitcoms and make-believe drama.
And although it's not real life-or-death survival, there is something to be learned from them. If nothing else, it's a study in human interaction.
Having said that: it still does'nt beat the History Channel.

Good luck,
Allen.
