Lots 'o' -6's and a Viper

I guess it depends on how much someone wants to pay for a custom. I know the older one has been with LDC for a number of weeks. I have a feeling that Emerson Customs are a fad thing and once people realize that they aren't any better than knives selling at 1/3 that price and that Emerson quality is spotty at best, the bottom will fall out of the resale market. Emerson treats his customers indifferently. How many people have been waiting for their "6's" for years? Shouldn't the ones that Les gets go to the people on the custom list? What goes around will come around. I think that there will be a day when Ernie will be happy to find someone to pay $500.00 for one of his knives. Only time will tell. Recently a 6 on e-bay for $1,200.00 failed to get a bid. I think that the bubble has burst.

Scott Dog,
There are a number of topics within the Emerson Forum dedicated to the issues you raise with Emersons so I won't dredge this whole mess up again. As with any goods or services, the going rate is determined by what the respective market will bear. I think that the new CQC-6 market has slowed a bit but I would seriouly hesitate to paint the older CQC-6 market let alone the entire Emerson custom market with such a broad stroke.

BTW, I have not experienced Emerson's quality as being "spotty at best". Your statement denotes that even on his best days Ernie's work is of flawed quality. If this were the case then every knife he made would have something noticably wrong with it due to a lack in quality. This simply is not the case.

Scott Dog,

I am always amused at what people this is and is not on my site.

1) All Emerson Custom Knives on my site were received after the NY Custom Knife Show.
So that older one you are refering to is not the one that was on there before. There are more than one of those out there.

2) I received no knives directly from Emerson.

3) In the future if you have any questions about my inventory, it's best to contact me directly so as not to hand out information that is both misleading and false.

Regarding pricing of Emerson Knives, Ark is 100% correct. This is nothing more than Micro-Economics 101. The basic premise that has guided pricing over time has always been and will continue to be....Supply and Demand.

By the way, the Emerson CQC6 2000 has been sold.
