Seems pretty quiet in the swamp for a long time. New things in the works ? We'll see.
Regardless, I had an interesting realization last night as I prepared for some field work - does not matter what time of year or what I'm doing, I always seem to end up with a swamp rat in my pocket. My winter survival go-to blade is an old howler (res-c rules). I have a battlerat in my pack, but the howler fits nicely in my pocket so it is always on me, even if I don't have my pack. The howler is in my yard-chores carharts too. Last night it was my trustworthy bandicoot that went for a walk with me. In an oku-kydex sheath it fits great in the pocket too. Had to share the ride with my spyderco para folder (never carry just one knife, of course).
Small fixed blades (3-4" blades) are my favorite knives. I have several choices, but the howler and coot get more carry time than anything else.
Of course, if I could get a nice SR ratchete, I'd carry that too
