Anyone know? I maybe going down there with Habitat for Humanity and was thinking of bringing my 09 soldier (larger saw and OH locking blade just incase), so anyone know if this should be fine?

Also anyone know why rescue tools are illegal?

I think we will be going to New Orleans, any good knife shops down there?

I talked to a Policeman a few years back and he told me that any folder under 4 inches, that wasn't an auto, would likely raise no flags with him or his buddies. I am paraphrasing but that was the gist of it. Don't know if this is still true, or it was simply how he operated. I also do not know if this applied to fixed blades as well...i was specifically asking him about folders. I very often carry a 3 3/4 inch folder myself. Of course, i have never been stopped and had a Policeman make a decision on it. I am relatively confident, however, that if my knife ever did come to light as it were, that there would be no problem.

i was on a post hurricane security detail there, a while back. i made friends with several local LEO's and the subject of weapon laws came up (imagine that lol). i told him that, in FL, we could OC a FB and asked if LA laws were as liberal. he said, "hell, you can OC a pistol here" obviously, this would not change whatever their CONCEALED laws are and i'm going by ONE COPS interpretation, but it tells me that LA is probably pretty laid back when it comes to tools :)
