Louisiana law forbids the owning or carrying of automatic knives, yet there is a dealer here that sells automatic knives to anyone of legal age stating it's legal to sell one and to buy it but not to carry it. How is it the dealer can sell to the average individual when it is counter to Louisiana law to own an automatic knife?

Lack of enforcement most likely. I do not know your laws, but in general knife laws are very low on the enforcement radar. I will however say a dealer may sell knives for a long time illegally and not be arrested, while someone carry the knife maybe quickly charged with a crime. There is a gun dealer in NY ( in fact a few) that openly sell autos in their display case with a note saying for LEOs only. I don't believe they stick to that rule, yet they are not given any trouble, but if someone bought one and was pulled over five blocks away I think they would be in trouble......
