Who else is from Louisiana?

The nearest town to me is New Iberia. Born and starved there. I do have some family up around Shreveport, Springhill, and Monroe.

Van Metre's and Gillis' are my family. Course I don't know any of them. Been years since I been over there. Last time was for a great aunts funeral. Her brother and son where looking at her and her son said, while barely being able to stand up, "momma shore looks good, don't she?". Her brother looked at her son kinda cockeyed and drunkenly replied "good? She looks dead". The son then looked back, squinted his eyes and examined her a little closer, chuckled, and said "yeah, I guess you is right".

Interesting funeral that was.

I'm not from LA but dammit I might trade some knives for some gen-u-wine gumbo and jambalaya. I fondly remember watching this gentleman on the tv...

I know a few Gillis' from that area, no Van Metre's
The story may be funny to some, but it sounds typical in this area. This area is experiencing growth like never before, don't know if folks coming to this area are ready for coon-asses here.

Lol

Any growth would be good probably. Last time I was there the general store on the gravel road still had a hitching post. I'm not exaggerating.
