Love for the Hartsook?

Does anyone else find the extreme usefulness in this little gem, or am I all alone? I have had this dropped in my front pocket now for 5 or 6 months and can't seem to leave it at home. A VERY handy pocket scalpel IMO. It has taken over the role that the main blade of my SAK used to fill. Obviously it's not a substitute for a larger knife but it does fill a vacancy that I find very useful.

I like mine not love. It needs to be bigger maybe 1" to 1 1/2" over all to be loved. And a little thicker maybe up to 1/8" it is only 1/16" now.

I agree its a little small...but I love forgetting about it until I need it. For some reason I did have a little trouble getting it as sharp as I thought it could get.

I just returned from a fishing trip to KY Lake, for the 2nd year in a row we had terrible weather. I wore heavy coats and coveralls in the boat and could not easily get to my other knives. The little hartsook came in very handy hanging around my neck.

I do love the Hartsook, but agree that it need to be just a tiny tad bigger to be perfect. Even so, over the past year and couple months I've been carrying it, its been so darn handy. Like a sharp fingernail or claw. Opens packages, cuts twine, does just about any small pocket knife chore but easier to get at and put away.

Yeah, a Hartsook XL would be great!

Ya listening Buck???

I got one about a year ago maybe. Great little knife.

Not as sharp as I would have liked out of the box, but it sharpened up nicely. I stripped the coating and had intended to make some kind of exotic wood handle for it, but I've never gotten around to it.

I agree that it's a bit on the small side, but with a nice fob or lanyard on the end (and not that crap Buck put on it) it handles pretty nicely.

The only thing that keeps me from loving it? The "sheath." Honestly, a plastic bag would have been better to keep it in.

Psycho... Buck has designed a new sheath for the Hartsook. I think they will replace your old sheath without any hassle.

Anyone know what you need to do to get the new one? Can anyone from Buck respond I am sure there are many that would be interested knowing.

The original is defective, so I am sure it will be covered under the warranty if you send it in with a note.

What's so much different about the new sheath? I'm interested in getting one but wanna be sure it'll be worth the effort. Does it have any retention device or is it just tighter?

If you look carefully at the pic of the new sheath, you can see a 'button' that will snap into the hole in the handle of the Hartsook.
