It's getting harder and harder to find your CRK "grails" these days isn't it? Even more frustrating is when you miss one by the slimmest of margins. One of mine just came and when this morning on the bay...... Have any of you guys just missed the one by this much ------> <--------- ????? What was it? Share my pain, please brethren.

rats rats rats rats....... Last edited by DallasSTB; 03-13-2014 at 03:55 PM. "

Now I know we have all been faced with a similar situation once or twice.. or maybe a lot of times.. I know it has happened to me a few times.. but this time it really hurt.. you know that sick feeling you get when you find out that something that you have been looking for a while.. something you really want.. more than any other knife.. Your 'Grail Knife" showed up.. and you missed it.. Well it did.. and I did... miss it that is. As you all may or may not know.. I am a huge fan of the Umnumzaan.. especially the early Original version. I dont really care for the current model.. not that there is anything wrong with it... it just doesn’t do it for me.. Anyway here I go again.. taking the long way around the barn.. My Grail Knife is of course an Umnumzaan... not just any Umnumzaan of course but one of the Prototypes.. The Umnumzaan 1/20 Prototypes made in May of 2008 just before the Blade Show... So this morning I was talking on the phone with another member and good friend pschencker (paul) he and I are in the same business and talk on a daily basis about biz and of course knives. So Paul calls me this morning and says hey have you ever heard of a CHRIS REEVE KNIFE CALLED THE BOSS? I says well of course I have.. it’s the Umnumzaan why? Paul says.. well I was doing a search on eBay for sold items.. yea I says.. well I seen this knife at it was called the Boss in the title... and it was numbered one of twenty... WHERE PAUL? WHERE DID YOU SEE IT?? On eBay he says... it sold Saturday morning in a buy it now... best offer auction... And so... thats my latest Love & hate.....ebay story...
All the best, Dave

Now you know why Gunbroker.com instituted the 15 minute rule. No bids for the last 15 minutes or auction is extended for another 15 minutes.

No sniping possible. Bid until you're happy or done, one way or another.

Well that really does not apply in this case Larry.. it was a buy it now auction.. beleive me had I seen the auction before it had ended I would have probably hurt myself pushing that "Buy it Now" button!!:D
All the best!!

Ive been beat out on ebay for crk items in the past, and they have ALL been regular forum members here!
Its all good though, as i am constantly buying and selling anyway. I enjoy the hunt!

I really think you will be able to find one of those Dave, I'll keep an eye out too:thumbup:

Thats why I never look to see what has been sold. I don't want to hurt:p

I still look there, but I've never bought a CRK there. The auction prices are more than I want to pay, and most of the buy it now prices are too. Seems like it's always more than what a similar knife would cost here.

But thanks Dave for reminding us all to look there more often for the buy it now deals. You know that will lesson your chances of getting a deal, but you're still willing to help your fellow BF members:thumbup::D

Oh Dave, buddy I surely never wished this kind of shared experience from any one of our group, especially a friend like you. I don't often buy from that site, but am pretty vigilant and I didn't spot this one either. All I can say is that eventually these things come 'round full circle to the good and the deserving. Timing is often not our friend though.

Ouch that stings. I think it's is the journey that many enjoy. At least you get to keep hunting.

I hope you find your grail soon.

I have missed out on so many on ebay and here on the forums that I cannot even remember them all. Missed out on some great One Piece Knives. Some Stunning Sebenzas & Mnandi. I try not to look in the SOLD/Completed listings as it can make you sick. But over the years, I have gotten some real steals on ebay and even here on the forum as well with just being in the right place at the right time. So I guess it evens out in the end.

Thanks Kenny!! Yea, I don't usually look at the closed sales or auctions for exactly the same reason.. I got sick to my stomach when Paul sent me the link to the knife... not so much because I missed it.. heck none of us can spend all day on the forums or eBay.. but because I missed it and it was sold so cheep!! The buyer actually took the time to submit a best offer that was accepted by the seller!! As I said earlier.. I would have tripped over my keyboard to get to the Buy it Now button!! :D Oh, well water under the bridge as they say.. after all there are 20 of them out there.. and I know where five of the twenty are.. but I just cant convince the owners to sell me one!! :(

Thanks brother!! And you are absolutely right the hunt is a big part of the thrill.. and after all I have been very blessed. I purchased my first CRK almost exactly one year ago.. and I have had the extreme pleasure of owning some very nice and somewhat rare models. That doesn't mean it doesn't hurt... but hey its only a knife right?
All the best!!

All the best my friend!! And thanks again for the great post on your 100 CRK'S AWSOME!!
