It's getting harder and harder to find your CRK "grails" these days isn't it? Even more frustrating is when you miss one by the slimmest of margins. One of mine just came and when this morning on the bay......:grumpy: Have any of you guys just missed the one by this much ------> <--------- ????? What was it? Share my pain, please brethren.

Yes I have and still regret it.

At the store I let a Honduran inlay slip my hands and couldn't Fi d another like it since. (They made more but it the same grain)
 
I feel for you brother... I think we all have missed that special "Grail" more than once. I know I have.. but you cant beat yourself up about it. I used to get all upset when something I really really wanted slipped between my fingers. Now I just get pissed off!!! lol lol lol!! :D I know I have been involved in "This Thing of Ours" for a very short time compared to you and the many other CRK enthusiasts here on the Forum.. but I still get upset when I miss a really nice CRK!! I really think that the reason you missed the "one" today means that you are getting closer to it. I know it sounds stupid but it will come and the one you do get will be even nicer than the one you missed. Stay in the hunt my friend.

Hello mirror! Well, karma aside, it sounds like you've gotten some sound, friendly advice in the past and I appreciate the note. After some years of this little hobby there are a scarce few that get my real attention. To miss one by only few minutes is.......frustrating.

The hunt continues....

You should consider using a bidding service on ebay like Gixen but there are others I've heard also. You don't have to be there at the end of the auction/sale, works great, email if you have questions
 
Unfortunately we cant catch them all. Not to long ago I was very lucky and picked up two BNIB CRK's on the bay.. at unbelievable prices (cheep) you know the drill.. "Buy it Now".. then a friend of mine showed me how to do a search of the sellers "Sold" items.. you know the ones I didn't see.. I was ill for two days.. but we move on.. if you want it.. it will come. And yes I have received lots of friendly advice from the many more experienced members here on the Chris Reeve Forum, as you know.. (Thank You) It never ceases to amaze me.. the generosity and good will that we find right here!! Whether it's congratulations on a "Great Catch" answer's to questions. tutorials on how to post photos..:D And as with this thread, just a place to vent frustrations.. I am glad we have this place to share "This Thing of Ours" with each other. :thumbup:

Me too buddy, me too. Even if the common bond is more along the lines of "enabling" rather than "encouraging", our little community here is quite precious to me. Take care all.

I did a search and saw the one that got away and I was so saddened to see you didn't get it.....hopefully a silver lining coming.
 
I hear ya my friend. It has happened to us all. I sometimes look on the "SOLD" on ebay and cringe on the ones I missed out on. I do check often, but cant be on there 24/7. I also have missed just as many right here on Bladeforums in the exchange. So its not just ebay that is the heartbreaker......lol.

I have noticed that there have not been as many of those "special" CRK's that we are accustomed to seeing lately, on all venues in fact. Everything seems to go in trends. You will see tons and have to pick and choose, then other times they dry up so to speak and its just hit and miss.

Closer and closer now. If this works out, I'll post a few pic's of the incoming piece. Never thought this would happen, especially, as nyefmaker point out, more significant CRK historical knives are becoming absorbed into permanent collections.

I loved the annuals. Could not afford one till it was too late. I do have 2 beauties, but wish I had a lot more. I hope CRK comes out with something comparable because there is a huge void without the annuals.
