... especially my ML Knives Kephart. It is hand forged and differentially heat treated by Matt. The handle is comfy and she cuts and slices like magic. One of the best parts about it is the way it holds an edge and how I can quickly bring it back to shave by stropping. This is my most used knife in over two years that I've owned it and the best part is that I've never had to take it to a stone or sand paper ........ only stropped it. I like that ! :D

Anyone else have pictures of their favorite 1095 knife and had similar performance from this simple "old school" steel ?

Love 1095, and definitely want a little pocket sized fixed blade out of it soon.

Yeah, I had USMC Ka-Bar 1095, I beat living day lights out and I never felt it was going to give up. I convex it, sold it to friend who needed big knife after getting Becker Bk-7. Now I love 1095 on my Becker BK-7 and 1095's on my Great Easter Slipjoints.

Its wonderful steel that IMHO gives good run for super steel costing 2 or 4 times more than 1095.

I've never really used a Ka-Bar but have had good luck with Great Eastern and ESEE. Great knives and steel.

id like a small one for fixed pocket carry. but it will rust in this environment.so what right?. something about 1095. its a damn good metal.

If you get a real good patina on it and rub it down with mineral oil or whatever it holds up pretty good.

The main benefit for me is the ease of sharpening and I don't mind a little bit of corrosion.

I just make sure that I clean the blade, strop the edge and oil it before I put it away.

I can handle some rust on the knife .... but not on the edge.

I love 1095!

Kabar all the way:thumbup::thumbup: My Potbelly rocks!

I wish I could find some modern one hand folders using 1095. I know Moore Maker has one. Ontario used to have some big lockbacks in the Spec Plus line that were 1095 that I'd like to my hands on.

Matt that made my Kephart makes some really cool friction folders in 1095.

Now you have me curious to see if there are any locking one hand openers out there in 1095.

Anyone know of one ?

Any of the GEC models have a lock and thumb stud ?

I love 1095. Its some no-nonsence, super tough, old school steel. I'd love to see more high quality knives made with it.

1095 in a straight & a folder
the straight is a custom by a forum member with deer leg handle. the folder is gec pioneer in spiral red buffalo. these are cutting tools not wood choppers.

I've been liking my Izula in 1095, and I always liked my KaBar USMC too. I never did get my edges as sharp as I do now back when I had my KaBar, but I'm really loving the Izula in 1095 because it's so much quicker to sharpen than my S30V EDC, and I really don't need that much edge retention anyway.
