Took some pictures last night of my SA 1911-A1 that I got last year and thought I'd share them with you. It's a Standard model (think SA Mil-Spec with Beavertail grip safety) that was made in Febuary of '94. I've shot over 400 rounds through it and the pistol has worked great. Only mod is the Novak rear sight which the previous owner had installed.

Here it is with my Galco Police type holster, two factory 7 round magazines, three Wilson 47D's and one Chip McCormick Power 8 mag.

Nice pics and glad you like it . I don't have a 1911 but I do have a .45, as you can tell by my sig and avatar ;).

Nice one, from the automatic pistols I've shot, the 1911 is the one I liked best.
Of course I cant have any of 'em :(.

Great pictures everyone.

I love mine as well. I've never found anything more accurate, or better to shoot.

nice pistols guys. I have 4 colts and they are all fantastic guns.

if i was expecting to have "issues" with someone and i had to deal with it with a pistol i would want either a good full size 1911 .45 or a close second would be a SIG P220 .45, common factor being i would prefer a .45ACP, but its hard to beat a 1911 thats for sure, still a good gun despite being designed 100 yrs ago lol.

That and his .50 cal...just amazing they are so timeless.

The gunsmith that built mine had a personal government frame with an officer's slide.
The frame was blued and the slide was hard chrome. What a fantastic pistol it was.

Nice pictures!! thanks to all those that posted them. Nice to see users and not just safe queens. ;)

Possibly not the place to ask this question, but...

Does anyone have any experience or opinions on the Rock Island 1911?

Here's my baby -

Heber, you need to stop neglecting that poor pistol. Only 400 rounds? You need to take her out more.

A 1911 U.S army stamped Colt made in 1917.

A 1960's Colt Combat Commander liteweight frame...

A 80's version Colt Commander 9mm.. (just because)

A series 70 Government model done by Frank Pachmeyer.

Two Springfields. Gov't models. One was sent back for warranty work. The rails didn't fit like I wanted and the lockup was a little off. When it was returned, it is the best shooting 1911 I own. Very impressive.

3 Different versions of Kimbers..

When I was shooting competetively I would usually shoot 500-600 rounds a day.

Mine were all well used as well. People don't often understand the number of rounds a competitive shooter sends downrange. When I was active I would shoot the complete Bianchi Action Pistol course of fire 2-3 times a day and then spend additional time on the problem areas such as the longer distances on the mover and the plate x-count times. At that time I was buying power buy the keg, bullets from Star in lots of fifty thousand, and primers by the case. The civilian serialed numbered .45 was shoot first by my father who shot on the Air Force Bullseye team, it was shoot quite a bit before I received it as a Christmas gift when I was 16. The Briley probably had the least number of rounds shot through it, maybe 20,000 or so as I was concentrating on Action Pistol back then.
